The starters of every region are some of the most beloved Pokemon of their respective regions. Primarina, despite being a starter, did not get an ex card alongside Incineroar and Decidueye in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Instead, the new card arrived in the latest expansion to the game, Eevee Grove.

Primarina boasts a massive health pool, alongside decent attacking and good healing capabilities. This makes her difficult to knockout, even in the face of the most offensive Pokemon. Here is a deck guide for the same.

This deck is based around two Stage two Pokemon. Firstly, we have the titular Primarina ex, which has one of the highest HP in the entire game. Moreover, with support cards like Hau and Irida, Primarina can deal as much damage as it can take.

The second core of this deck is Greninja, who is mainly utilized for its ability to stack up 20 damage every turn on a Pokemon of your choosing. This can not only be used to add extra pressure on the opponent, but also create targets for cards like Cyrus. Although Primarina isn’t the best deck at the moment, being outshone by Sylveon ex and Flareon ex, it’s still viable to use up to a certain rank.

This deck is quite simple to play, as your main strategy involves bringing out your Stage two evolution Pokemon as soon as possible.

  • The deck revolves around Primarina being up front, soaking up damage and dishing back decently. Meanwhile, Greninja is an excellent Benched support to add extra pressure.
  • You can heal up both Pokemon with Irida whenever the situation calls for it.
  • Hau is better used in the early game, as it might allow you to get an early knockout, giving you an advantage for the rest of the duel.

Best Matchups for This Primarina ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket

Being a deck filled with Water-type cards, the deck performs strongly against Fire type decks. Charizard ex and Incineroar ex are often seen in ranked matches, giving you an edge against these cards.

Other than these, cards that charge up their finishers on the Bench could face heavy competition from this deck, as a quick combination of Greninja and Cyrus could lay them exposed. Moreover, even cards like Rampardos are not safe, as Skull Fossil can get knocked out on the bench in just two turns from Greninja.

Counters to this Primarina ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket

The entire deck is weak against Electric-type cards. Naturally, you will face some difficulty when put up against cards like Tapu Koko and other good electric cards. Oricorio ex is another counter to Primarina ex. Not only is it immune to its attacks, but it also deals extra damage due to its Electric typing.

Fortunately, no Electric-type presently can defeat Primarina in one hit, giving you ample time to heal back or retreat if the situation calls for it.
