The newest expansion in Pokemon TCG Pocket, Eevee Grove, had no short supply of new cards. Many of these were brand-new cards like Sylveon ex and Primarina ex, while others were different variations of already existing cards. The latter included cards like Flareon, Vaporeon, and more.

Snorlax ex falls into the second category. The Pokemon was already in the game, and being used alongside Trainer cards like Barry. However, the ex version changes the script and playing style of this deck completely. Here is how to build the best Snorlax ex deck.

The deck revolves around Snorlax being up front and doing a nice 130 damage with its Flop-Down Punch. Meanwhile, its ability lets it stay up front for a long time, by healing 20 HP every turn. Giratina and Lunala are the other two support/sub-attacker cards in this deck. Giratina is the best energy generator in the game currently, while Lunala can take this energy and transfer it to Snorlax. Comfey is just there to ensure that Snorlax does not get affected by Sleep, or any other Special Conditions.

Ideal Starting Hand for Best Snorlax Ex Deck

Your best start will arrive when Snorlax and Giratina are in your starting hand. This lets you set up a sturdy wall against attacks, while Giratina generates energy in the Benched zone. Ilima is also a great addition, since it can let you put Snorlax back into your hand to avoid a knockout and give the opponent two points.

Best Snorlax Ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket: Strategy

This deck relies on the synergy of all four Pokemon to come together.

  • Snorlax is the primary attacker and wall to hold off enemy attacks. Meanwhile, Giratina generates energy for the entire team.
  • Lunala can move this Psychic energy to the Active Pokemon, giving you easy access to attacks. Lastly, Comfey’s Ability is key to Snorlax (and other Pokemon) not falling prey to Sleep (and other Special Conditions).
  • Your primary task will be to set up Snorlax in the active zone, while Giratina charges up on the bench. Leftovers and Snorlax’s own ability will help it survive for longer in the front.

Best Matchups for This Snorlax Ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket

If the opponent is as slow as you, it will be difficult for them to break through. This is considering Snorlax’s high HP stat and ability to keep healing consistently. So, decks involving cards like Dakrai or Guzzlord might struggle against this deck.

Counters to this Snorlax Ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket

Dragonite can prove to be a big counter for this deck, owing to its Giga Impact move, which deals 180 damage. This is enough to knock out any Pokemon in this deck. Additionally, combinations of Greninja and Cyrus can prove to be annoying, as they can disrupt your formation and bring unprepared cards out of the Bench. Moreover, Snorlax itself is weak to Fighting-type cards, making it harder to survive against cards like Rampardos.

Lastly, Oricorio can be a huge counter to this deck, as the only non-ex card in the deck is Comfey.

Best Snorlax Ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket Eevee Grove: Tips and Tricks

Here are the best ways to use this Snorlax ex deck:

  • You should save Ilima until Snorlax is low on health, to put it back into your hand and avoid giving your opponent any points. You can then place the same card back onto the Bench, effectively allowing for a Retreat, despite not having any energy.
  • Giratina is an effective sub-attacker in case Snorlax goes down. Moreover, since you run only Psychic energy, Giratina is quicker to charge up.
  • You should be careful about using Leftovers, since using Ilima on Snorlax will discard the Pokemon Tool.
