Tips To Complete Protection of Wang Yun Mission in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Here are a few tips and tricks you can take note of while doing the Protection of Wang Yun mission in Dynasty Warriors Origins:

  • Stock up before you start.
  • Keep ally morale high.
  • Break pots for healing items.
  • Use your horse.
  • Always check minimap.

Here is a quick rundown for each tip.

Stock Up Before You Start

You can never have too many portable items in the game. Make sure to always make a quick stop at the in-game shop, as these items can help you survive the constant ambush and assassination attempts from enemy forces.

For this mission, stock up on Vitality Pills and Potions to restore your health. While you can just break pots scattered throughout the map, they might not be enough to keep you alive until your allies reach the checkpoint.

Other good portable items to bring are a Stamina Potion to restore bravery and a Strength Potion, which increases your attack temporarily. Along the way, you’ll discover more unique portable items, so make sure to read through them and figure out which to bring that fits your playstyle.

Keep in mind that portable items can be a bit expensive. Make sure to check how much you can afford, as you will also need to upgrade your equipment to be more effective on the battlefield.

Keep Ally Morale High

You do not want to lower your ally’s morale too much. This can result in them fleeing from battle and you losing the mission. Make sure to always help them when they need it, especially Wang Yun, who keeps stopping to catch his breath and regenerate health. When he does this, enemies will start spawning and will attempt to kill him.

Sticking close to your allies can also help trigger Battle Art Chains. These are follow-up attacks done by your allies during your combo attacks. This can be handy when clearing large groups of enemies. Be on the lookout for a blue link between you and one of your allies. This is the indication that you are ready to do a Battle Art Chain.

Break Pots for Healing Items

Give in to your gaming habits and break pots that are scattered throughout the map. They can sometimes contain Meat Buns that can regenerate lost HP. However, do not rely on these free items for sustainability. They can be a good alternative way to heal up, but they are a finite resource. Always make a quick stop at the nearest shop before heading out to do missions.

Use Your Horse

A horse is going to be your best friend in long missions like the Protection of Wang Yun in Dynasty Warriors Origins. They can help you gain distance easily and run between key locations on the map. They can even gain experience and unlock useful abilities like the Wanderer. This means it’s highly recommended to bring them along in battles.

A good horse to have is Birch. His Level 20 ability allows him to stagger enemies nearby when you summon them. This is good when there are too many enemies nearby and you need a quick escape to preposition or run to another location. Additionally, Birch has the highest Speed compared to the other horses in the game. This means he is fast and can give you an opening when needed.

Always Check Minimap

The minimap is one of the most important gameplay mechanics in Dynasty Warriors Origins. It allows you to keep track of both enemy and ally forces to know when and where you are needed. When your allies are being overwhelmed by enemies in one area, quickly head over there to help. While doing that, keep track of the area you left behind to see if there are enemy movements nearby. You’ll never know when the next ambush will happen.
