Whether you main as a Vanguard, Duelist, or Strategist, chances are, you have been obliterated by an Iron Fist more than once. Let’s be honest. That’s part of the reason why you are here. Well, you are not alone. Being annoyed at Iron Fist is a universal experience for all players. This is why we have brought you a guide to counter Iron Fist while playing Marvel Rivals.
When he was first introduced, you may not have thought much of him since he is a melee characters, and the game is considered a Hero “Shooter”. However, his abilities and quick movement quickly turned the tide around.
Before we give you some tips to counter this ferocious fighter, let’s dissect his capabilities to understand what we are up against.
Iron Fist’s Abilities in Marvel Rivals
Two of his basic attacks include Jeet June Do and Yat Jee Chung Kuen. The first one is his basic punch combo which deals 32 damage for the first four strikes and deals 55 damage from the fifth hit onwards. The latter, however, is a dash attack which also allows Iron Fist to close in on flying enemies like Iron Man and Storm.
The K’un-Lun Kick lets Iron Fist dash forward and delivers a flying kick to deal 30 damage on the first kick and 35-70 damage on the second one. Dragon’s Defense allows him to ‘parry’ incoming attacks. He can block various Ultimates if timed correctly. Harmony Recovery lets him meditate and recover 100 HP per second plus 50 Excess Healing or Armor on top if completed without disturbance.
He also has movement Abilities like the Crane Leap that gives 3 charges to jump consecutively. Iron Fist can also wall-run in Marvel Rivals. And if he assists a kill, his passive Chi Absorption grants him bonus health.
Lastly, the infamous Living Chi Ultimate boosts his speed, damage and attack range. It also reduces cooldown for Dragon’s Defense. Unfortunately, his Ultimate can’t be canceled unlike some other characters.
Learning to Counter Iron Fist in Marvel Rivals
Iron Fist is a Duelist. So, naturally, he will aim to enter combat situations. Although he is not a Vanguard, he is usually spotted at the enemy frontlines, or at the back of your frontlines, taking out your Strategists. His swift movement allows him to get past your allied defenses easily. So, if he is fighting in this predictable manner, the following tips may work:
(NOTE: These tips are subjective and may not work in every scenario)
- If he is the most aggressive opponent, make sure to keep him as a priority target. Keep pinging him whenever and wherever you spot him. This will allow your teammates to strategize instinctively and improvise some of their tactics.
- Tanky Vanguards like Venom, Hulk, and Groot are usually great at taking down Iron Fist because they have a massive HP and also deal a chunky amount of damage.
- Whenever feasible, try to lead him into a trap. Lin Lie is bound to charge in with full confidence if he spots an enemy, especially a Strategist, alone. So, make sure to ambush him using these tactics and send him back to the respawn screen soon after. This tactic may not work all the time, though.
- Try to have Black Widow or Hawkeye further back from your frontlines so they can take away most of his HP.
- If he triggers his Ultimate, try to clear the space and let it dial down. This is especially the case if Iron Fist has support nearby. Until and unless your entire team can rain down attacks on him, it’s best to leave his Ultimate alone.
- Lastly, if you find Iron Fist meditating somewhere, jump him. Don’t think about honor, think about survival and victory.
