The recently concluded Streamer Awards 2024 had a fair share of dramas. Some of these involve the FaZe Clan, IShowSpeed, and more.
The Streamer Awards 2024 has once again seen a massive surge in viewership. Like the previous editions, this year’s event has also been deemed to be a success. Despite the viral moments and celebratory awards, there were a few instances of streamers beefing. Some of the streamers in question were invited, others simply let their opinions be known online.
This article will look to delve into some of these dramas.
What Were Some Of The Biggest Controversies In The Streamer Awards 2024?
1) FaZe Clan VS Grace Van Dien Feud Online
Grace Van Dien, the Twitch streamer and Stranger Things actress, has once again rekindled her feud with the FaZe Clan. For context, she was part of the organization for a few weeks in May 2023. However, a verbal spat with FaZe Rain led her to leave the organization on bad terms.
On December 7, 2024, she posted a tweet accusing FaZe members (who were also invited to the Streamer Awards) of “staring” at her and “whispering” with each other. She wrote (now removed):
“FaZe guys are so brave online but just stared and whispered whenever they saw me last night. Micro energy.”
FaZe Banks, one of the veteran members of the organization, quickly clapped back by referring to her past controversy with FaZe Clan and also taking a jab at Grace’s boyfriend:
“You’re a slam pig lol, nobody afraid of your baby voices or your 80 lbs emo boyfriend. Stop clinging onto our sh*t, nobody knows you or gives a f**k about you. You tried to force your way into FaZe, you’re a f**king cornball that none of us wanted and YOU’RE STILL MAD.”
The controversy also sparked a few tweets from other FaZe members. As a result, Grace faced a lot of backlash from FaZe Clan’s fanbase and has currently deactivated her account.
2) IShowSpeed Gets Called Out By VTuber
YouTube streamer Darren “IShowSpeed” had an eventful 2024. As a result, he was voted Streamer of the Year at the 2024 Streamer Awards. The event’s official page celebrated his success by sharing an image of the streamer. However, in response, VTuber Kirsche accused IShowSpeed of copyright claiming smaller creators. She wrote:
“Imagine winning streamer of the year when you copyright claim smaller creators’ videos for reacting to 30s of your content.”
Kirsche further elaborated that despite appealing the copyright claims, she has yet to find a solution, suggesting that she had also received such a claim herself. She also mentioned that while she had reacted to content from Kai Cenat, she never faced a similar issue with his videos.
3) LosPollosTV Upset With Nomination
LosPollosTV was visibly upset following the event, particularly regarding the Best Collaboration Stream category. While the award was eventually won by Kai Cenat for his collaboration with Druski and Kevin Hart earlier this year, Los expressed his discontent over his stream with the Costco Guys and the Rizzler not being nominated.
LosPollosTV pointed out that some moments from his stream went extremely viral, with one particular segment featuring the Rizzler garnering over 100 million impressions online. He felt that such viral success should have earned his stream a nomination in the Best Collaboration Stream category. He wrote:
“I don’t know what I did to whoever is in charge of streaming clips, but they showed a montage of the best moments from each month, and how is the Rizzler appearing on stream not there? I shouldn’t even care about this sh*t, but I do.”
