In Black Myth: Wukong, your character progresses by unlocking new spells and abilities. Additionally, you can then further improve those skills by unlocking Talents. Talents are passive boosts to your active spells that you can unlock with Spark Points.

Furthermore, you will need to defeat enemies to make progress towards Spark Points. First, when you defeat an enemy you will be granted Willpower. Then, after your Willpower bar fills up, you will get a Spark Point.

Finally, you can respec your Spark Points at any time during the game. This freedom will facilitate combat strategy and allow you to modify your build to take advantage of boss weaknesses or combat style.

All Alteration Skills and Talents – Black Myth: Wukong

Cloud Step Talent Tree - Black Myth Wukong
Rock Solid Talent Tree - Black Myth Wukong

There are two Alteration skill lines available to unlock in Black Myth: Wukong – Cloud Step and Rock Solid. Moreover, within those lines, there are a total of 13 talents, with each providing a different type of passive boost. Cloud Step is a mobility spell you can use to create a decoy the enemy will attack. While your opponent is distracted you can use that time to catch a breath and recover, or move around its flank for an open attack.

On the other hand, Rock Solid is a spell that can turn defense into offense. Casting it will transform you into a rock. Moreover, if you time it right and change just before an enemy attack, the strike will be deflected. Furthermore, you can use that moment counterattack.

Below are all the Alteration Skills and Talents:

Gallop

Cloud Step Talent Gallop - Black Myth Wukong
  • Talent Name: Gallop
  • Spell Specific: Cloud Step
  • Description: Moderately increases movement speed in Cloud Step
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 1

The first talent available on the Cloud Step skill tree is called Gallop, and unlocking it will grant you a boost to movement speed while in mist form. The basic premise of Cloud Step is that it improves your mobility and this talent builds nicely on top of that. Additionally, if you’ve used Cloud Step to avoid an attack or create some space between you and an enemy, the Gallop talent will help you get back in place for an attack more quickly.

Ruse

Cloud Step Talent Ruse - Black Myth Wukong
  • Talent Name: Ruse
  • Spell Specific: Cloud Step
  • Description: Each talent level considerably increases the Maximum Health of the Decoy.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 1

The decoy created by the Cloud Step spell is fairly weak in its original form. If you’re facing a challenging boss monster, it’s likely that the decoy won’t last for much longer than a single hit. Therefore, the Ruse spell can help improve the decoy’s survivability with some additional health. There are a total of two levels you can unlock here, so you can stack additional health on top.

Converging Clouds

Cloud Step Talent Converging Clouds - BMWK
  • Talent Name: Converging Clouds
  • Spell Specific: Cloud Step
  • Description: Each talent level slightly extends the duration of Cloud Step.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 1

Converging Clouds is a talent that will extend the duration of the Cloud Step spell. Additionally, it all has two separate levels to unlock so that you can stack the effect a bit. The base duration of the spell is 35 seconds, which is the amount of time you can stay in your mist form. This won’t impact the duration or durability of the decoy, but an extended time in mist form will help you get in a better position before the fight restarts.

Concealed Observation

Cloud Step Talent Concealed Observation - BMWK
  • Talent Name: Concealed Observation
  • Spell Specific: Cloud Step
  • Description: Each talent level slightly increases the Critical Hit Chance of Unveiling Strike, which stacks per second while in Cloud Step. This effect can stack up to 10 times.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 1

Concealed Observation is a fantastic DPS boost that can increase your chance of landing a critical hit on an Unveiling Strike. The Unveiling Strike is essentially an attack from stealth. You have concealed yourself in mist form with the Cloud Step spell, and then when you choose to attack you break mist form and become visible again.

Furthermore, your chance at a critical hit will increase with each second you are in mist form, up to 10 seconds. It will require careful timing to make sure you are getting the maximum amount of critical hit chance, as 10 seconds can seem a long time when you want to get back to the fight.

Bait

Cloud Step Talent Bait - Black Myth Wukong
  • Talent Name: Bait
  • Spell Specific: Cloud Step
  • Description: When hit, the Decoy will generate a shockwave that attacks surrounding enemies. This shockwave can trigger only once per second.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 1

The Bait talent will unlock an area-of-effect ability for your decoy that will be really helpful when you are fighting groups of enemies. However, the downside initially is that your decoy may not last much past the first hit. Moreover, the shockwave can only trigger once per second. Therefore, you may only get this effect once before your decoy is taken down.

Therefore, to really take full advantage of this talent you’ll likely also want to invest in Ruse.

Thunder Strike

Cloud Step Talent Thunder Strike - Black Myth Wukong
  • Talent Name: Thunder Strike
  • Spell Specific: Cloud Step
  • Description: When in Cloud Step, Unveiling Strike can be performed with a charged Heavy Attack.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 2

Next in the Black Myth: Wukong – Complete Guide List Alteration Skills and Talents article is Thunder Strike, which will allow you to make an Unveiling Strike with a charged Heavy Attack. This was not possible before, and Unveiling Strikes could only be executed with basic light or heavy attacks. Charged heavy attacks are going to allow you to deal more damage. Furthermore, if you’ve also invested in the Concealed Observation talent, then you’ll increase your chances of making a critical hit with a charged heavy attack.

Absolute Strike

Cloud Step Talent Absolute Strike - Black Myth Wukong
  • Talent Name: Absolute Strike
  • Spell Specific: Cloud Step
  • Description: Considerably increases the Damage of Unveiling Strike. The Mana cost of this Spell slightly increases upon awakening this Talent.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost:

The final Cloud Step talent is Absolute Strike, which will increase the damage of Unveiling Strike no matter what type of attack you make. Unlocking this talent will mean you have to spend more Mana to cast the Cloud Step spell. However, if you can combine this talent with Thunder Strike and Concealed Observation, you will be capable of dealing some incredibly powerful blows from stealth.

Rapid Return

Rock Solid Talent Rapid Return - BMWK
  • Talent Name: Rapid Return
  • Spell Specific: Rock Solid
  • Description: Rock Solid can be canceled at will.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 1

Rock Solid is a spell where the timing of your cast is crucial and if you miss the mark there is no real reason to stay in that form. The duration of the spell will last 15 seconds otherwise. It’s a simple investment of one Spark Point to be able to cancel the transformation as soon as you have either executed the counterattack or mistimed it.

Rock Mastery

Rock Solid Talent Rock Mastery - BMWK
  • Talent Name: Rock Mastery
  • Spell Specific: Rock Solid
  • Description: Moderately reduces the Cooldown of Rock Solid.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 1

Unlocking the Rock Mastery talent will immediately reduce the cooldown of the Rock Solid spell. You only have a moment to get the timing of the Rock Solid spell right. If you do, then you can defect and attack and execute a successful counterattack. If not, then you’ll want to cancel the spell and try again. Therefore, this talent will reduce the wait before you can make another cast.

Nick of Time

Rock Solid Talent Nick of Time - BMWK
  • Talent Name: Nick of Time
  • Spell Specific: Rock Solid
  • Description: Grants a considerable amount of Focus upon a successful Deflection.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 1

The Nick of Time talent requires that you time the Rock Solid spell perfectly so that an enemy’s attack is Deflected and you can execute a counterattack. Upon a successful Deflection, the Nick of Time talent will reward you with a considerable amount of Focus.

In Black Myth: Wukong, Focus Points are a resource that you build by landing successful hits on enemies. You can then choose to spend all of your built-up Focus on a single powerful Heavy Attack. Therefore, if you can pull off the perfect timing and Deflect enemy attacks with Rock Solid multiple times per fight, the resulting additional Focus will help you deal powerful additional damage.

Upper Hand

Rock Solid Talent Upper Hand - Black Myth Wukong
  • Talent Name: Upper Hand
  • Spell Specific: Rock Solid
  • Description: Increases the Damage of the Light Attack Starter succeeding a successful Deflection.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 1

Next in the Black Myth: Wukong – Complete Guide List Alteration Skills and Talents article is Upper Hand, which will increase the damage of your first light attack made after executing a successful Deflection. This bonus is a straightforward boost to your DPS when you counterattack after executing a Deflection of an enemy attack.

Ironclad

Rock Solid Talent Ironclad - Black Myth Wukong
  • Talent Name: Ironclad
  • Spell Specific: Rock Solid
  • Description: Grants Damage Reduction for a short duration after a Deflection with Rock Solid
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 1

Unlocking Ironclad in the Rock Solid talent tree will give you a damage reduction buff for a short time after you have executed a successful Deflection. The Rock Solid spell requires that you time it right so that you transform into a rock just at the moment your enemy attacks you. Done right, this will create a Deflection that you can then use to make a counterattack.

However, these maneuvers will put you in close with your enemy and within easy reach of an attack from them. If you’re skilled at retreating after a counterattack then this may not be a necessary talent. However, if you’re getting caught in a monster’s follow-up attack, then you may want to consider Ironclad for the extra defense.

Bold Venture

Rock Solid Talent Bold Venture - Black Myth Wukong
  • Talent Name: Bold Venture
  • Spell Specific: Rock Solid
  • Description: Recovers a considerable amount of Mana upon a successful Deflection. The Deflection Window narrows upon awakening this talent.
  • Type: Passive
  • Sparks Cost: 2

The Bold Venture talent is a high-risk, high-reward bonus that will take a lot of player practice and skill to make the most of. Unlocking it will give you a lot of Mana back when you execute a successful Deflection. Therefore, if you can successfully deflect enemy attacks with Rock Solid over and over, the return mana will allow you to cast the spell much more often.

However, the major drawback to this talent is that unlocking it will also narrow the moment you have to perfectly time your cast of Rock Solid. If you’ve been using this spell a lot and you have mastered the timing of the spell so far, this change could be very frustrating.
