Throughout your time there, you’ll find a variety of tools, all of which are important to progress. For instance, with the shovel, you can dig up dirt mounds to uncover secrets inside. Similarly, with a Sledge Hammer, you’ll be able to break open locked boxes and chests without wasting valuable keys.
However, you don’t just start off with these tools. Instead, at the beginning of every run, you’ll need to find and acquire them before you can use them. In this guide, we’ll help you find the shovel and sledgehammer in Blue Prince.
Where To Find the Shovel and Sledge Hammer in Blue Prince
Finding the shovel and the Sledge Hammer in this game isn’t as simple as just heading to one location. That’s because the location of these tools is randomized, which means they can appear at different spots during every run. This can make it extremely challenging to find the hammer and shovel, especially if you don’t know where they are most likely to drop. Being aware of the rooms or locations where these tools are most likely to appear is one of the best ways to take advantage of the game’s RNG mechanic.

The following are the four best ways you can get your hands on the shovel and the Sledge Hammer.
- Draft the Commissary room inside the manor. In the room, you’ll have the option to purchase four items with gold. If you’re lucky, both or at least one of the tools will appear among the four items for sale.
- Find out the Terminal Password to unlock the computer in the Security Room. Using the computer, you will be able to order both the shovel and the Sledge Hammer. Keep in mind that whatever you order from here will take a couple of days to appear in the Commissary Room.
- Always check dead-end rooms, such as the walk-in closet, for such items. Similarly, you may find both tools while exploring rooms marked green, such as the Greenhouse.
- After unlocking the West Gate and Garage Door, you can start drafting outdoor rooms, too.
