The Shelter Time-Lock Safe in Blue Prince is pretty confusing. Here’s a quick guide to help you crack it and claim what’s inside.
The Time-Lock Safe is a unique kind of safe in Blue Prince. What makes it so unique is that it cannot open just at any time of the day, like a safe is supposed to. So it can be pretty confusing to decode the timing if you don’t know what you should be doing right. If you have also found yourself wondering about how to get this Shelter Safe open, we have got you covered.
Where To Find the Time-Lock Safe in Blue Prince?
The said safe is present in the “Shelter”. It is a room that can’t be accessed unless you unlock a specific path. So, before you can even locate the safe, you will need to unlock the West Gate Path. For this, you can unlock the Garage Door and remove the latch from the gate. If you don’t know how to do this, follow the steps given below:
- The Garage, in my experience, appeared in the far-left side of the manor. Those already in the first column will find the door leading north. For those in the second column, the door must lead west.
- Next, draft a Utility Closet and put it somewhere in a corner from where it can’t hinder your progress. Now, you can check out the Breaker Box Puzzle. But before playing the entire puzzle for rewards, simply flick the Garage switch to “On”.
Now, you will find yourself getting access to the outer rooms that are randomly selected. However, since the options are limited, you can play multiple runs until the Shelter appears for you. Once you get to the Shelter via the West Gate Path, the real puzzle starts.

Activating the Shelter Safe in Blue Prince
Once inside the Shelter, interact with the terminal. Now, you must enter the correct information. The game starts on November 7. So, open the interactive menu/map and check the date on the right side of the screen. Count the number of days starting from November 7. For example, Day 3 will be November 10 on the interactive map. The time, however, can be tricky.
To get the time right, you must note that all runs start at 8:00 AM. An hour in the game passes when you spend around five minutes in real life. So, setting the time to 10 AM should be right. Those who are skeptical can still visit the Grounds and check the clock in front of the manor. Once the safe is open, there is a red letter of significance inside. The message is yours to read because it can spoil some things.
