Learn how to unlock C4SH in Borderlands 4, explore his chance-based Action Skills, and discover upcoming DLC content details.

Arriving in Q1 2026, C4SH is one of the two new Vault Hunters planned for Borderlands 4 as part of the content roadmap. C4SH is a former casino dealer bot who took on the mantle of Vault Hunter somewhere down the dusty road of his backstory. He now chases the probability-defying highs of the eldritch riches hidden within the vaults.
Borderlands 4: How To Unlock C4SH

You can unlock C4SH by owning or purchasing any one of the following additional content packs:
- Story Pack 1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned
- Vault Hunter Pack
- Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition
C4SH is directly tied to the “Story Pack 1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned” DLC and will be released as a part of it. Purchasing the Story Pack will be your most cost-effective method to play as C4SH. The pack will also feature new main and side missions spread throughout a new zone in Kairos.
On the other hand, purchasing the Vault Hunter Pack or Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition will give you access to new cosmetics and future DLC content, including the second upcoming Vault Hunter and Story Pack.

What is C4SH’s Playstyle in Borderlands 4?
C4SH is marketed as the most powerful Vault Hunter so far, if built well. His Action Skills and the core abilities in his skill trees have chance-based mechanics, which can improve or worsen his combat effectiveness. The Claptrap Vault Hunter in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel also used chance-based abilities to some extent.
Although C4SH is currently in development, Gearbox has revealed several important gameplay details about the Vault Hunter. C4SH’s leveling system will remain the same as previously available Vault Hunters, with three Action Skills and their dedicated skill trees containing three branches each.

Action Skills
- One of the Action Skills revealed so far shows C4SH throwing cards at targets to deal damage, and possibly to activate random effects and buffs.
- Another Action Skill involves rolling the dice and activating buffs according to how high you roll, creating a risk–reward playstyle.
- The official descriptions also hint at “a spin of the bullets in a chamber,” suggesting a Russian Roulette-style mechanic for the third Action Skill.
Additional Details
In the official poster for C4SH, we can observe decks of cards, dice, and pistols that align with the confirmed and speculated Action Skills. The shield-like artifacts at the bottom of the poster seem to represent C4SH’s skill tree icons. However, since the middle icon is yellow instead of blue, they could also represent his Class Mods.
