Chuck is an exceptional assault rifle in Borderlands 4 with the Pitcher Legendary effect. The effect allows you to throw the assault rifle a fair distance when you reload it, spawning four grenades that explode where they land. With decent Gun Damage and a reload that turns the rifle into a cluster bomb, the weapon can be effectively integrated into most builds.
How To Get Chuck Legendary Assault Rifle in Borderlands 4
Chuck is a rare drop from Hank the Welder’s loot pool, and your best bet of getting it is to grind the boss. Hank the Welder is part of the Foundry Freaks boss trio, the other members being Frank the Furnace and Sal the Engineer.
You can find Hank the Welder in the Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site located in the southwest Fadefields region, near Fortress Indomita. Clear the initial crowd of Rippers at the drill site, and all three bosses will emerge to face you.
Frank the Furnace and Sal the Engineer have their own Legendary drops, which makes farming the trio of bosses even more appealing. Use the Moxxi’s Big Encore machine at the Pitted Stain to replay the boss fight until you obtain the Chuck Legendary assault rifle.

Chuck’s high Gun Damage and the large explosion resulting from throwing the Legendary weapon on reload make it an appealing weapon regardless of the character or build you are using.
Vex’s Volatile Essence increases splash damage by 3.5% per skill point investment and doubles it when her Action Skill is active. Radiant Attunement further increases splash damage while also adding to max shield percentage.
Rafa Skills
Rafa, in particular, can buff Chuck’s thrown splash damage into the stratosphere. Rafa’s Peacebreaker Cannons (red) and Arc-Knives (green) skill trees have several skills that can increase Chuck’s damage output.
- Barrage (red) increases splash damage by 10% during Overdrive, while Everdrive increases Overdrive duration. This is especially useful if you’re using the Volatile Hollowpoints Capstone, since it replaces Rafa’s shoulder cannons with Rockets that deal splash damage too.
- El Paraguas (green) increases splash damage by 7% and splash damage critical chance by 3% for every upgrade. Spec into these upgrades if you’re using the Thundercutter Augment, since it makes Arc-Knives’ attacks deal melee splash damage, while Rafa’s overall splash damage is increased by 50%.
