Evan Horizon is a Rift Boss in Borderlands 4 with space-bending powers. With what seems like a miniature black hole floating above its head, the boss launches singularities at the Vault Hunter, forcing them to adapt to its reality-bending attacks.

“Evan Horizon” is a play on the term “event horizon,” the boundary around a black hole where no matter or light can escape its gravitational pull. The Rift Boss is difficult to locate and offers a chance at Legendary loot. Additionally, defeating him brings you one step closer to 100% game completion.

Like most Rift Bosses, Evan Horizon doesn’t have a specific location in the world but can appear at random within a region. You can come across Evan Horizon while traveling through the Fadefields region. Players have frequently encountered the boss in the Coastal Bonescape area, around Shammy’s Shack. The boss will appear inside a rift in the landscape, which looks like a large bubble distorting the atmosphere with an Eridium tinge.

Once you’re prepared for the fight, enter the rift and face Evan Horizon. If you leave the bounds of the arena marked by the rift’s bubble, the boss fight will end and you’ll have to randomly encounter Evan Horizon again.

How To Beat Evan Horizon Boss in Borderlands 4

  • Evan Horizon has a large Shield and a regular Flesh health bar. Shock and Radiation damage are effective against the former, while the latter is vulnerable to Incendiary damage.

  • The boss’ weak spot is its relatively small head. Target it to land critical hits.

  • Focus on dodging the boss’s gravity attacks, as they can swing you around, disrupting aim in addition to dealing damage.

  • Keep your distance from the boss, as he constantly generates a gravity field around him that pulls you in and deals damage. The greater the distance between you, the easier it is to avoid his gravity attacks.

  • If you die during the fight, you cannot reattempt the boss fight from a nearby checkpoint, as Evan Horizon will disappear after your death. Merely getting downed does not cause the boss to disappear.

  • For his special attack, Evan Horizon charges a singularity and launches it at you. The singularity pulls you toward it and explodes. Dodge the attack with a wide berth to avoid being drawn toward it. Taking cover helps, as the projectile is blocked by terrain and objects.
