Learn about the mysterious Frangible Legendary SMG in Borderlands 4, from its drop locations to potential uses.
The Frangible is completely unique in Borderlands 4, as it is considered a meme weapon. Despite being a Legendary SMG manufactured by Daedalus, it has a blank DPS stat regardless of level. Additionally, upon inspecting it, you will not find any unique effect, as usually seen with all Legendary weapons, nor does it display manufacturer parts, Alt Fire modes, or red text.
Looking at the blank DPS stat, you may assume that the weapon deals no damage, but that isn’t the case. However, the damage it does manage to dish out comes largely from your character’s passive skills. Even at level 50, the damage doesn’t amount to much, but the weapon still possesses novelty value.

The Frangible Legendary SMG isn’t found in a specific location and is not a part of any boss’ loot pool. Instead, it has a very small chance to appear while opening red or gold chests or as a random drop after killing any boss.
To increase your chance of getting the Frangible, you can raise your Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode difficulty, as it boosts the drop rates of Legendaries. Farming easy bosses such as Sidney Pointylegs and Frank the Furnace is one way to obtain the Frangible while gaining plenty of experience and other good loot.
However, this approach is expensive, requiring a large reserve of Eridium or cash to use Moxxi’s Big Encore machine. Alternatively, you could farm red chests, as they have a fair chance to award you with many of the game’s Legendary weapons. To farm red chests efficiently, you can travel to and search Stillshore in the Bonescape area of the Fadefields region.

Since it deals very little damage, the Frangible Legendary SMG should be sent to the bank and become a part of your collection. However, the weapon can be used for challenge runs and to fulfill its purpose as a meme. It can be viable with certain builds that don’t rely on weapon damage, such as our Rafa Peacebreaker Cannons build and the Amon Scourge Melee build.
