Defeat Frank the Furnace and the Foundry Freaks in Borderlands 4 for Legendary loot. Discover their location, weaknesses, and drops.
Frank the Furnace is a part of the Foundry Freaks boss trio; the other two members are Hank the Welder and Sal the Engineer. They can be found at The Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site in the Fadefields region. You have to defeat the initial waves of enemies at the site to spawn the trio of bosses. Although challenging to take on at once, the bosses are extremely lucrative when it comes to farming gear, as each of them has a chance to drop a Legendary item.
Frank the Furnace and Foundry Freaks Bosses Location
Frank the Furnace, Hank the Welder, and Sal the Engineer all spawn together at The Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site, which you can reach by progressing through the Idolator’s Noose in southern Fadefields, just below Racketrun. Even after clearing the point of interest (POI), you can rerun it using Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine to farm its loot.

Borderlands 4: Foundry Freaks Boss Fight Guide
After entering The Pitted Stain and defeating the initial wave of enemies there, all three Foundry Freaks appear simultaneously. A large troop of Rippers also accompany them so equipping a powerful source of AoE damage is advisable.
- Frank the Furnace’s weak spot is the machine on his back. Try to get behind him to blitz down the boss with a series of critical hits.
- Sal the Engineer rushes you on his quadruple mechanical legs and uses his flamethrower to inflict Incendiary Damage.
- Hank the Welder uses his winged jetpack to leap and melee attack you. He can also use his jets to shoot flames in front of him, dealing Incendiary Damage.
- Use the high ground in the arena to shoot the bosses from a distance and kite them when they begin closing in.
- Kill as many regular Ripper enemies as possible before the bosses get involved in the fight, as it will allow you to focus on them with little distraction.

Foundry Freaks Drops and Rewards
After beating the Foundry Freaks once, you can use Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine at the drill site to respawn them. The Foundry Freaks are some of the best bosses to farm in the game, as they each drop a powerful Legendary item, and the multitude of regular enemies spawning with them grant a large sum of XP. The cash required to respawn the bosses varies based on your level, maxing out at $30,000 for a level 50 Vault Hunter.
