Everything you need to know about Borderlands 4’s pre-order, including details on the editions, their contents, pricing, and more.

Borderlands 4, the highly anticipated new mainline entry in the iconic first-person shooter franchise, is just a few months away from its release. While the game is scheduled to launch in September 2025, pre-orders for the game are already live on all platforms.
Surprisingly enough, despite Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford‘s hints at the game adopting the $80 pricing model, Borderlands 4 is priced at the usual $70. While Borderlands 4 starts with the $70 Standard Edition, it does feature other, more expensive versions that go well past the $100 mark. In addition to that, the game also comes with a pre-order bundle, which consists of exclusive cosmetics.
Here’s everything you need to know about Borderlands 4’s pre-order, editions, prices, and more.
Borderlands 4 Release Date and Platforms

Borderlands 4 is scheduled to be released on September 12, 2025. The game will be available on all current-generation platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC. Additionally, much like the previous Borderlands titles (mainline), the fourth installment is also coming to Nintendo’s current-generation home console.
In fact, Borderlands 4 is among the very first Triple-A third-party games that are getting a simultaneous release on the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside other major console platforms. Surprisingly enough, there’s no early access or advanced access incentive for Borderlands 4’s pre-order. Borderlands 4 is also the first title in the series to ditch the eighth-gen systems.
Given that the game is built using Unreal Engine 5, it’s not likely to get a PS4/Xbox One release in the future. Additionally, for PC users, Gearbox Software has revealed the official system requirements for the game. Based on the system specifications, the game seems to be quite well-optimized, at least in terms of VRAM.
