Refer to our detailed Siege and Destroy mission guide in Borderlands 4 that will help defeat the Rippers and retake Carcadia.
The eighth main mission of Borderlands 4, Siege and Destroy, continues the story from Wrath of the Ripper Queen. It follows the Vault Hunter’s quest to obtain the Command Bolt by assisting the resistance against the Ripper Queen. Her army of Rippers is attacking Carcadia, and you have to break the siege.
Part 1: Destroy the Catapults
The quest begins at Moxxi’s Bar, where Quent asks Zane for his help against the Rippers’ catapults. After talking to Zane, you have the optional objective to speak with Moxxi.
Follow Zane to the pit under the bar where he keeps Sophia, a giant Thresher, and his answer to the Ripper siege. Grapple the levers on either side of the cage to open it, and then grab Sophia’s toy lying on a crate to the right.
Follow the quest marker to reach the first catapult while fighting through the Rippers. The main enemy to watch out for is the Catapult Master, a mini-boss with armor, a shield, and a regular health bar underneath. After killing all the Rippers, grapple onto the catapult and place Sophia’s toy on top of it. Repeat the process with the second catapult to the north.
Venturing further north, you will find the third catapult protected by a shield dome. Follow the marker to the power source and destroy the generator to lower the shield. Then, place Sophia’s toy on top of the third catapult to complete the objective.

Part 2: Retake Carcadia City
Now that all the catapults are destroyed thanks to Sophia, travel to Levaine’s location to defeat the Rippers in her area. Fight through the large-scale battle taking place in Carcadia City, and Zane and Sophia will eventually join you. If you’re having trouble in this section, stay close to Zane as he can revive you during Second Wind.

Badass Captain Kuzma Boss Fight
Upon reaching the city square, Callis makes a brief appearance, leaving a large group of Rippers and Badass Captain Kuzma to fight in her stead. To beat the mini-boss, walk into his projected shield and shoot his backpack to disable it. With the shield disabled, you can easily whittle down Kuzma’s health using incendiary Damage. Aim for headshots, stay out of his melee range, and the miniboss will go down quickly.
After the battle is over, speak with Zane and enter the Leaders Chamber to finally meet Levaine in person. Following a cutscene, Carcadia transforms into a faction town, providing access to a Lost Loot Machine, a Respec Machine, a Golden Key chest, and a Bank. Head out of the chamber and open the marked chest to complete the mission.
