There are hundreds of ways to play Broken Arrow as a deckbuilder. This is why it can be a bit intimidating to try to build your own deck in the game. Each unit you deploy in battle has its own pros and cons. This means you can’t just grab all the powerful units in one deck.

Needless to say, the game has some complex mechanics that you need to keep in mind. But once you get the hang of it, it’s actually quite fun and satisfying when you finally have the deck that fits your playstyle.

With that said, here is a deckbuilder guide for Broken Arrow to help you mix and match the best units and resources in the game.

One thing to keep in mind when playing Broken Arrow is that there are a total of six types of units you can choose from. Here is a quick breakdown of each unit:

  • Infantry: These units are the ones heading to the frontlines. You can use them to garrison in buildings to set up an ambush, hide from enemies, or protect crucial points of interest.
  • Support: This unit is all about artillery strikes and anti-aircraft vehicles. They are usually effective for long-range attacks, making them good as backup units to supplement what the infantry and other units lack. Additionally, this unit type also includes non-combat supports like vehicles that supply ammunition, medical aid, or repair kits.
  • Recon: Specializes in scouting areas and marking down enemies. Perfect for staying ahead of your enemies, unless they get to you first.
  • Vehicles: These are durable, armored vehicles. Some examples include battle tanks and fire support vehicles.
  • Helicopters: Can provide aerial support for your ground units. Additionally, this unit can also transport your troops and even vehicles if possible.
  • Airplanes: Another type of aerial unit that carries more firepower, like bombs and missiles.

Here are a few things to keep in mind while building decks in Broken Arrow:

  • Consider starting with Recon, as you can’t fight what you can’t see.
  • Do not cheap out on Support units (AA, logistics, artillery), as they are key to helping sustain frontline forces.
  • Do not overload on a single unit, as each has its own strengths and weaknesses.
  • When playing with a team, consider if you want to balance your units or focus on one specialization (e.g., full support or recon playstyle) to help your allies and give them more options.
