There are different kinds of shelters in The Forest. Let us learn in detail about them and how to build them.
Shelter is the most crucial component to survive in the wilds. In The Forest, you get dumped into the wilderness with just a pickaxe and some supplies. While searching for more supplies, you need a roof above their heads. The game offers various kinds of shelter, each having different requirements.
In this guide, we will discuss the various kinds of shelters and how to build them.
How To Build Shelter
Players need a pickaxe to build a shelter, which they can find on the body of a flight attendant in the plane. Then, to equip the pickaxe, open inventory (I) and left-click on the axe. Also, you need the survival book, which they have by default. You can access the survival book by pressing (B). Look for the shelter section, where you can see all types of shelters.
How To Place the Shelter
After deciding which shelter you want to build. Follow these steps:
- Open the survival book (B) and select the desired shelter.
- A hologram can be seen of the selected shelter, which can be rotated by pressing (R).
- After adjusting, press (E) to place the draft of the shelter.
- Complete the shelter by placing the required material on the hologram.
Also, you can cancel the construction of shelter by holding (C), and a small portion of resources is recovered.
Types of Shelter
There are mainly four types of shelter in The Forest, each having their own perks and requirements. Here are all the details about these shelters:
Temporary Shelter: This is a small shelter that can only be used one time. Furthermore, you can build this shelter with 26 leaves and 14 sticks. Temporary Shelter can be useful in various ways, such as saving or creating a waypoint.
Hunting Shelter: A small shelter optimal for survival. You can build it using 7 sticks, 6 rocks, and 7 logs. Hunting Shelter is a good option for beginners as it can be used multiple times.
Small Cabin: A cabin with a room, a door, and a window. You can build it using 13 logs. Additionally, small Cabin protects players from rain and cold.
Log Cabin: A permanent shelter with windows, doors, and a roof. You can build this shelter using 87 logs.
