Here’s how you can complete the Distortion mission in Call of Duty Black Ops 7, search for woods, find woods, and destroy the nightmare boss.
Distortion is the third mission in Call of Duty Black Ops 7, and it immediately follows the events of the Inside mission. After discovering the Guild insider, you (Mason) and your team are teleported into a shared hallucination. In this trapped jungle landscape, you must find Woods, as he has answers to the toxin’s after-effects.

Distortion Mission Objectives
The mission is segmented into multiple phases. Here’s what you can expect.

Searching for Woods and Clearing the Vines
Your primary goal is to navigate the distorted Angolan jungle to find Woods.
Start by making your way through the jungle, fighting off initial waves of human enemies. As you move forward, please keep an eye out for supply caches, which have valuable drops; you’re likely to overlook them.
Following this, your next objective is to investigate the barge. After you clear the hostiles and secure the barge, you will follow the vines and destroy the growths. Growths are massive pulsating vines that block your progress, and to destroy them, you have to travel across several small islets. Please watch your step in the process; missing a jump is undoubtedly possible. Once you destroy all of them, the next objective will begin.
Securing the Barge and Surviving the Nightmare
Once the vines are cleared, you’ll return to the barge for the next phase.
Be warned, the barge is now full of enemies, and you have to eliminate all of them to secure the area around the container. Once you secure and open it, the second phase of the mission will trigger. The environment will change, and you will be drawn into a nightmarish landscape. Abominations and other creatures will be after you; the humans are gone, and you have to survive this onslaught.
As you fight through these creatures, you will encounter fragments of Woods’ nightmare, which provide clues to his state. As you continue following these ghostly apparitions of Woods, you will ascend through a distorted reality, and then the final phase of the mission will begin.
Rescuing Woods and Defeating the Final Horde
The final section of this mission is a boss fight, but be careful of the summoned creatures.
After following the final set of vines to their source, you will find Woods trapped inside a container. Opening it will trigger the final boss fight. After the combat begins, keep your distance and weaken the boss while killing the summoned creatures. As you keep dealing damage, it will continue to summon more creatures. Keep firing, and you will destroy the Nightmare boss, thus ending the mission.
Rewards for Completing Inside
After you complete the Distortion mission at any difficulty, the game rewards you with the Phantom (Weapon Blueprint) and 5,000 XP.
