The Donkey Kong franchise has been around for over four decades. It is perfectly understandable to wonder whether a newcomer can jump into Donkey Kong Bananza without prior experience. Playing Bananza as a newcomer to the DK series might feel a little overwhelming; however, you don’t need any prior knowledge to play the game.

Is There a Co-Op Mode in Donkey Kong Bananza?

Yes, DK Bananza will feature a two-player co-op mode. The co-op mode was revealed for the first time during the DKB Direct that was held on June 18, 2025. The Direct was approximately 15 minutes long and covered multiple features from DKB. The game will offer both couch co-op and online co-op modes.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you don’t need two separate copies of the game. If one of you owns a copy, you can still play Donkey Kong Bananza. Even though Donkey Kong Bananza is a Switch 2 exclusive, you can still play it on Switch 1 using the GameShare feature.
