The Best Build Order To Follow in Civilization 7

The following is the order you must follow to stand the maximum chance of success in the game:

  • Focus on scouts
  • Check the tiles to discover the first technology
  • Develop granaries for food production
  • Create settlers to ensure stronger tiles
  • Pick Mysticism as the first Civic

Now, let’s understand how each of these steps in the build order will help you.

1) Focus on Scouts

Scouts are super important units in the game. They help reveal any hidden tiles, find natural wonders, or even other civilizations. These will help you expand your civilization faster and ensure rapid growth. So, make sure to create two scouts at the very beginning of the game, as soon as your production allows it. Scouts are an invaluable part of the game, especially during the early hours.

2) Check the Tiles To Discover the First Technology

Civilization 7 allows you to view the Technology Tree only after you have unlocked the first Technology. So, make sure to be on the lookout, so that the Tech Tree is unlocked and you can start progressing. It is the only way to unlock different buildings in the game. The buildings also help improve the tile yields, ensuring you have access to greater resources.

3) Develop Granaries for Food Production

You can unlock the Granary on Turn 2. So, make sure to develop a couple of Scouts and then build at least one granary. Doing so will boost the yield of food from Pastures and Farms by 1. As you keep improving more tiles, the benefit from the Granary will ensure increased growth for your civilization.

4) Create Settlers To Ensure Stronger Tiles

As soon as you come across a region with considerable resources and a body of water, produce a settler to establish a settlement. The same goes for whenever you find Natural Wonders. This is a great way of expanding your civilization since other civilizations won’t be able to encroach on these areas without capturing the settlement’s Palace.

5) Pick Mysticism As the First Civic

When you are at Turn 5, you will get the option to choose your first Civic — choose Mysticism. Unlocking it will help you build an altar and begin a Pantheon. You can get powerful buffs from Pantheons, which depend on the God you select from the available list. Initially, it is best to opt for buffs that improve the yield of your most important or preferred resource.

This is the best build order for Civilization 7, which sets you up for success from the very beginning. Also, go through our guide on getting more gold in the game if you are short on the currency.
