Each attribute affects specific stats of characters. Additionally, each character has their own preferred stats to upgrade to become more efficient in their roles. This means you need to consider which attribute is best upgraded for each character.

There are five types of attributes in the game:

Can You Respec Your Attributes in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Yes, there is a respec option for your attributes in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 through the Recoat option. You can unlock this feature if you interacted with the painter Nicholas in the prologue of the game. Alternatively, you can get them by defeating bosses, opening picture cages, or purchasing them from a merchant for 10,000 Chroma.
Keep in mind that Recoats are rare and expensive. Make sure to plan ahead if you want to respec your characters in the game.

Each character has their own role in a party. This means each has their own preferred attributes and stats to upgrade:
- Gustav: Agility and Vitality
- Lune: Vitality and Defense
- Maelle: Luck and Might

- Mononoco: Flexible, depending on player preference.
