There are a few missable encounters that grant items in the prologue of Clair Obscur Expedition 33 if you don’t do a bit of exploration and talk to NPCs. These items can be very useful for your playthrough. While you can complete your run without these bonus items, it is advisable to acquire them. They are not that hard to find anyway, so you won’t be wasting too much time.

Recoat
The Recoat is an item that allows you to respec or reallocate a character’s attributes and skill points. It’s a very useful ability, especially in the early game, when you are still learning the ropes.
You can get this item early in the game by heading past the Flower Market and interacting with Nicholas for a duel. He is a painter situated near a horse statue. The challenge is to dodge Sophie’s attacks six times in a row. If you complete this challenge, you will unlock the Recoat.
Chroma Catalyst
Near the area where you found Nicholas, find a trash can and interact with it. Keep interacting until the Trash-can Man talks to you. Afterwards, you should receive the Chroma Catalyst. This is an item that you can use to upgrade your weapons.

First Mime to Defeat
Head to a stage near the harbor where you can spot some children playing. Keep an eye out for a Mime near the area. This will be the first Mime you need to defeat.
Festival Tokens
During the festival scene, you are given one Festival Token. The exchange shop has three items that cost one token each. This means you are two tokens short of getting all of them. Fortunately, you can get two more Festival Tokens in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 if you explore a bit and take on some small and easy challenges.
Extra Dialogue and Interactions With NPCs
If you enjoy learning more about the world, interact with NPCs while walking with Sophie during the prologue. You’ll get to hear their thoughts and experience some interesting interactions along the way.
