The world of Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is almost deceptive in nature. The Continent lures you in with lush green grass and crystal clear waters, and then strangles you with its several bosses. One such boss you have to face on your journey across this gorgeous Continent is the Chromatic Gault.
Found past the Old Farm Expedition Flag in the Stone Wave Cliffs, this boss is largely frustrating due to the status effects it inflicts. It also has only a single element it is weak to, being immune to almost all the others. The Chromatic Gault is weak only to Fire and is resistant to every other element. Your best bet for taking this Nevron down would be to rely on Maelle and Lune. Both characters have fire abilities they can rely on, letting them deal damage to the boss. Lune can also double down as a healer, ensuring you survive.
Once the fight kicks off, the Chromatic Gault is likely to use Bind on all members of the party. The Bound status effect prevents inflicted characters from dodging, meaning that parrying is your only way to survive the onslaught. As oppressive as that may seem, the boss thankfully has only one attack you need to worry about. If you still struggle, using Cleansing Tints will bail you out of this bind.
The Chromatic Gault uses its axe to swing right at you in a two-hit combo. The first slash comes from your left, followed by the next from your right. The boss spins and lifts its axe up right before the first slash. Press the parry button exactly when the axe is close to the boss’s head during that arc to parry the first slash. Parry the second slash a moment after you parry the first. Parry. Counterattack, and melt this boss down with fire to beat it.
