Clair Obscur Expedition 33’s bosses are unique both in terms of design and mechanics. Created by the Paintress, these creatures roam about the Continent and have indiscriminately killed all the expeditioners that have stepped foot before them. The Chromatic Luster is one such boss that has been racking up bodies in the Forgotten Battlefield.
Found past the Fading Woman in the Forgotten Battlefield, the Chromatic Luster is a behemoth of a Nevron, wielding sharp blades dripping in lava for arms. Around its head, the boss sports a fiery mane, striking fear into the hearts of those that dare go against it. The boss is intimidating all around and capitalizes on the fear with deceptively fast strikes and combos. With its speed, the Chromatic Luster is a surprisingly hard boss to read, making the fight difficult.

The first attack you need to watch for when facing the Chromatic Luster is when he charges up a fire explosion. The boss will charge up an attack, baiting you into thinking it’s coming later, only to dash right at you and attack. The boss charges this attack up with two blinks. Press the parry button right after the second blink to successfully parry the attack. You want to parry this attack as it inflicts burn, which the boss may use to heal itself.
The second attack you need to watch for when fighting the Chromatic Luster is its fast combo. This is a three-hit combo that deals moderately high damage. The first hit is a right slash, followed by a left slash, after which the boss falls back and does a front-flip vertical slash. The first two slashes have a predictable parry timing, while there is a slight delay for the third. Press the parry button right as the boss begins descending during the flip.
As far as dealing damage goes, do not use Fire damage. The boss will absorb Fire-based attacks and use them to heal. Instead, use Lightning-based attacks to deal the most damage and dispose of the Chromatic Luster.
