Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 features some of the toughest boss encounters we’ve faced in gaming this year. Its unique blend of live-action dodging and parrying layered onto a turn-based combat system adds an intense level of difficulty, challenging both your strategy and reflexes in equal measure.

The Jovial Moissonneuse is one of the late-game bosses who puts your fundamentals to the test. The boss hits ridiculously hard, punishing any slip-up by putting you on low health. Not only that, this boss also has a whole gimmick where he’s healed at regular intervals, prolonging the fight and adding to player frustrations. This boss fight is a battle of grit, and you have to fight back with all you have if you wish to stand a chance.

If you’re struggling against the Jovial Moissonneuse boss in the game, we’re here to help. In this guide, we shall go over how to beat the Jovial Moissonneuse boss in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

The Jovial Moissonneuse is one of the hardest bosses in the game and is found by interacting with the huge smiling mask in the Joy Vale (Visages). Interact with the mask, and it will pose a question. Answer the question with ‘Joy’ to kick off the boss fight.

The boss also has minions beside him. Take these minions out right away before focusing on the boss. Once you’re up against the Jovial Moissonneuse himself, the fight is fairly standard. The boss has a predictable moveset for the most part, relying on standard strikes that are easy to read. There are no delays in the moveset, making parrying much easier. We recommend parrying as often as you can. Parry and counterattack to eat away at the HP. We also suggest exploiting the boss’ weakness to fire for extra damage.

The main issue people have with this fight is the Mask behind the boss. This mask heals the boss for +4557 HP after each turn, unnecessarily dragging the whole thing. If you wish to beat the boss, you have to dish out damage much greater than that. We recommend pairing Pictos such as the Inverted Affinity with other damage-boosting Pictos to greatly amplify your damage. This will let you negate the healing and finish the boss off easily.
