Clair Obscur Expedition 33 features a ton of bosses, all of which test your strats, your build, your understanding of the mechanics, and more. Chromatic Lancer is one such boss you find in Spring Meadows. On paper, the encounter seems easy, but it can be a real hassle if you’re not careful.

Resembling the Lanceliers you fought earlier on in the story, the Chromatic Lancelier lures you into a sense of comfort with its similar looks. You think the boss would be easy, but the first hit it lands pulls you back into reality. This boss is no joke and demands your respect. Despite whatever challenges the boss may bring, this is one you cannot afford to skip, as beating it grants you a new weapon for Gustave.

As hard as the boss may hit, its resemblance to the regular Lanceliers also bleeds into its mechanics, making it a fair challenge to overcome if you know what you’re doing. If you’re someone who has stumbled across the Chromatic Lancelier in the Spring Meadows and are now struggling to beat it, we’re here to help. In this guide, we shall go over how to defeat the Chromatic Lancelier in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

As you kick off the fight, the first thing you’ll notice is the emerald sticking out of the boss’s head. This emerald above its head is a weak spot, and one you can exploit fairly early on. Use free aim to aim for the emerald and shoot to take away a quarter of the boss’s HP. Doing so puts you on the right foot at the very beginning, setting the tone for the rest of the battle.

Now that the weak spot is destroyed, we have to slow things down and play it slow. The Chromatic Lancelier will charge you with the lance, thrusting it forward in your direction. This is fairly easy to dodge, so be prepared. In another attack, the boss charges and swings the lancer in the air. It will hold the lancer behind itself, thrusting it forward with a charged attack. This, too, can be dodged easily.

When it comes to dishing out offence, you should use Lune and her ice attacks. The boss is weak to ice and Lune can dish out plenty of those. If not ice, you can also use fire-based strikes to stack the burn effect and chip away HP slowly. The boss is also weak to overcharge attacks. Make sure to use Gustave and his Lumiere Assault as often as you can.
