In the world of Clair Obscur Expedition 33, you’ll often come across items that don’t seem to have any apparent use at first. However, later on, you might discover that the item you’ve been holding onto all along is key to completing a quest. One such item is Bourgeon Skin. It is a quest item that can be important to you if you’re a completionist.

How To Find Bourgeon Skin in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
You will get Bourgeon Skin by defeating an enemy named Bourgeon. These are large Nevrons that you can run into at several points on the game map. However, before heading into a fight with them, make sure you are well-prepared. Bourgeon can pose a considerable challenge, so it’s best to upgrade your weapons as much as possible before fighting them. After you manage to defeat one of these enemies, you’ll get access to the Bourgeon Skin item.

How To Use Bourgeon Skin in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
The Bourgeon Skin you get has a very specific use in the game. Once you have some in your inventory, go to the southwest of the Ancient Sanctuary region. There, you’ll discover a portal that takes you to one of the discrete maps in the game, The Small Bourgeon. Inside the map, you’ll come across a small Nevron that you can talk to.
The Nevron wants Bourgeon Skin, so make sure you give those to him. Then, exit The Small Bourgeon map and enter it once again. You’ll find that the small Nevron has grown up and is now a bigger Bourgeon. Talk to the creature once more and you’ll receive a Color of Lumina.
You can take this item back to the Curator at camp to increase one of the characters’ Lumina Points by one permanently.
Alternatively, you can also fight the grown Bourgeon and defeat it. You’ll then receive 5 Color of Lumina and a Polished Chroma Catalyst. You can use the Polished Chroma Catalyst to upgrade weapons between Levels 3 and 9.
