Take on more difficult enemies easily by learning how to upgrade your weapons in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
Players in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 aren’t directly taught how to upgrade their weapons. In fact, you won’t have access to the means of upgrading your arsenal until several hours into the game. During your journey, you will gather materials called Tints. These refer to materials like the Chroma Crystal and Color of Lumina. Out of these two, Chroma Crystals are how you upgrade your weapons.
Both of them can be obtained simply by playing the game — all you need to do is explore the world and find these Tints. If you engage in a fight, you might also get some Chroma Crystals afterwards as a reward. So, when you have enough, how do you spend them to upgrade the weapons?

Obtaining Weapon Upgrades in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
So far, only The Curator can upgrade your weapons. However, he is not unlocked right away. Around six hours into the game, you will unlock this vendor as part of the main story. He will be available after completing the Flying Water questline. First, you will meet Lune and try finding a way out of Spring Meadows. Players will eventually make their way into the Flying Waters and then to the Curator’s abode. Once you have fought until the end of Flying Water and returned, you will unlock the Curator as a vendor.
You will find him at your camp inside a cave, which can be accessed through the overworld, and is not time-restricted. Turn towards the cliff and look to the left to find the opening to the cave as soon as you enter your camp. Alternatively, walk to the edge of the cliff to follow the path around the left side to find another opening to the cave.
Interact with the Curator and select the Upgrade Weapon option. Upgrading will increase the weapon’s Attack Power and Attribute Scaling. Using the Chroma Crystal, the weapons can be taken up to Level 3. Going from Level 1 to Level 2 will only cost you one crystal, while it will cost you two crystals to reach Level 3. Rare items will be needed once you have reached Level 3 upgrades.
