The Sacred River is tied to Monoco’s final optional questline in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. Here’s how you can breeze through it.

The gestrals and their rebirth are tied to the Sacred River in the game. You can unlock this area after you reach Act 3 of Clair Obscur Expedition 33. However, the main reason this area exists is to finish Monoco’s final quest in rebirthing our simple and friendly gestral merchant, Noco. Here’s a quick walkthrough of the Sacred River to help you decide if Noco’s life is worth the in-game time.
Sacred River Walkthrough in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

To access the Sacred River in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, you must reach Act 3. You unlock more side content after starting to fly, as the beginning of Act 3 marks a turning point in the game. This ability to fly is obtained after you level up Esquie’s relation level to 6. The Sacred River is located north of Monoco’s Station. Similar to the Station, the river is surrounded by mountains and looks similar to what a forming valley looks like.
In the Sacred River, there is an alternate path that you can take instead of going to the pink gestral. The right path will take you to a gestral merchant. If you have triggered the Monoco relationship level 6 quest, you get to meet a familiar face after interacting with the big gestral. The merchant has a disc that you can buy from him if you want to play some old tunes during your camp interactions.
After beating the merchant in battle, he opens up his wares. Various Pictos could help if suitable for your build. Double Burn and Glass Canon Pictos are pretty okay Pictos that you can equip for niche one-shot builds later in the game.
Monoco Quest in the Sacred River
The relationship quests for your party members can begin from the camp by interacting with them. You can usually camp after every cutscene event in the game as a general precaution. This lets you know your party more and get you more lore on who they are.
After triggering the Monoco quest, the area near the fork should have a big pink glowing gestral. The leader of the gestrals, Golgra, will come forth in battle. However, for this battle, you will only be able to use Monoco and Verso, as they are related to the questline. Beating Golgra will rebirth Noco, Monoco’s son. Golgra is a tough boss battle, but the rewards are also very high. Grandiose Chroma Catalyst x3 and a bunch of EXP for both Monoco and Verso are always welcoming.
