Find out whether it is a good idea to attack and kill Jar in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. What other alternative do you have?
There are many NPCs that you’ll run into during your time playing Clair Obscur Expedition 33. Some of them won’t just attack you on sight. Instead, speaking to them may reveal certain favors you can do for them. Jar is one such NPC that you find during the initial hours of the game. He’ll ask you to help him find ‘light’ and if you do, there is a nifty reward awaiting you.
After you complete this favor for him, you can speak to him again. At this point, you will get the option to either attack him or leave him alone. In this guide, we’ll explain the consequences of attacking Jar in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
What Happens If You Attack Jar in Clair Obscur Expedition 33?
After handing Jar the Resin and shooting at his staff, you’ll essentially complete the favor for him. He’ll give you a Healing Tint after you complete his side quest. You can then speak to the Nevron again and choose to attack him. If you manage to fight and slay the Nevron, you’ll receive the following items from him:
- 1x Chroma Catalyst
- 3x Colour of Lumina
However, seeing as the Nevron is friendly, attacking him may not be the best course of action. Also, the game does reward you much later on if you decide to spare Jar and any other friendly Nevrons you meet along the way.

What Happens If You Spare Jar in Clair Obscur Expedition 33?
If you decide to spare Jar and other friendly Nevrons for the time being, the game will reward you. After you unlock Esquie’s flight ability in the third act of the game, you should fly to the floating island in the Spring Meadows region. You’ll find Blanche in this location. He’ll give 100x Colour of Lumina if you spare Jar and the other allied Nevrons.
However, if you killed any of the friendly Nevrons, a fight will begin with Blanche. It is an extremely challenging battle that you should only attempt if you are at Level 80 or higher.
