How To Reach Stone Wave Cliffs in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Begin by traveling north from Esquie’s Nest. This only becomes possible once you have acquired Esquie during Act 1. In the overworld, call upon Esquie to break through the black rock wall obstructing the path. That action clears the way into Stone Wave Cliffs and opens up a new region with different elevation levels and hidden spaces.
Key Rest Points and Exploration Routes
Fast travel spots are distributed well across the cliffs. They are essential checkpoints, especially before major fights or item hunts.
- Entrance: The first flag is located right where you enter the zone.
- Paintress Shrine: Watch for the Young Boy—this rest point appears soon after encountering him.
- Old Farm: Found beyond a large cavern filled with floating lamps. Use your grappler and a light rope to access it.
- Tide Caverns: Continue past a handhold gap. You will meet Hexga just before spotting this rest flag.
- Basalt Waves: Reachable by climbing up from Tide Caverns. It’s the last rest stop before the final confrontation.
- Flooded Buildings: Optional, but full of enemies and useful items. Start from Basalt Waves, grapple to a nearby building, and move inward.
Weapons Hidden Throughout the Stone Wave Cliffs
Different characters benefit from unique gear you will uncover here.
- Delaram (Gustave/Verso): Found after the first Paint Cage, near Journal 78. Climb a light rope not far from the entrance.
- Chation (Sciel): Dropped by Reaper Cultists protecting Journal 56. You will face them before reaching the Paintress Shrine.
- Rangeson (Sciel): Fight Jerijeri near the Old Farm. Look behind the first house, crawl through the tunnel, and challenge him.
- Duenum (Sciel): Found in the second Paint Cage area, close to the Old Farm rest point.
- Coralim (Lune): Requires grappling to enter Flooded Buildings. Proceed past a giant Hexga to find this weapon inside a nearby structure.
Boss Fights in Stone Wave Cliffs in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Stone Wave Cliffs includes both major and side bosses.
- Lampmaster: This is the central boss for the zone. Found deeper in the cliffs, it has no listed weaknesses but can be overcome with patience and smart timing.
- Petank: Start near the Old Farm checkpoint. Lure it through the gates, then corner it in an alley. Defeating summoned enemies is crucial before you can damage it meaningfully.
- This creature is best approached with a soft touch. From the Old Farm rest point, check the shack to your right. Sneak up from behind and coax it through the gate. Once it’s past the opening, guide it from the opposite side so it veers into the trap. Look for the lit tile marking where it should land.
- Rocher: Considered minor in threat level. You will still want to take it down to claim a Rock Crystal for Hexga.
Pictos Worth Tracking Down
You can collect nine unique Pictos in this area. Each one modifies your stats or battle conditions in subtle but significant ways. Here’s where to look:
- Near the Entrance, find the Confident and Breaking Counter.
- Close to Paintress Shrine, several Pictos can be found, including Energising Pain, First Strike, and SOS Power.
- In Tide Caverns, locate Breaking Shots and fight the Gold Chavaliere to obtain Perilous Parry.
- From Flooded Buildings, find Healing Tint Energy on a corpse and Enfeebling Mark atop a high platform behind the second building.
NPCs and Interaction Points in Stone Wave Cliffs in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Two notable characters appear on the cliffs:
- Jerijeri: A friendly Gestral merchant. From the Old Farm flag, walk behind the first house and crawl through a small tunnel.
- Hexga: Positioned at the end of the Old Farm area, just before the Tide Caverns flag. This NPC provides context and rewards.
Paint Cages and How To Access Them
Each Paint Cage contains useful upgrades and is tied to environmental puzzles.
- First Cage: Located near the entrance. Climb a nearby rope, pass Journal 78, and interact with three visual prompts. Look above, then below, and crawl through a tunnel to find them.
- Second Cage: Found uphill from the Old Farm checkpoint. One part is behind wooden planks; another is stuck to a broken windmill.
Journals To Collect
Three expedition logs are scattered across this map. Each one offers background on failed past missions.
- Journal 78 (Maxance): Close to the entrance, up a rope.
- Journal 56 (Lisette): Located beside a streetlight before Paintress Shrine.
- Journal 50 (Lucile): Found inside the large cave past the Paintress Shrine, where floating lamps hover.
