Old Door Key is one of the earliest quest items in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. Let’s see where to find it and how to use it properly.
Players will come across an Old Key in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 pretty early on in the game. However, finding it won’t be a walk in the park as you’ll have to partake in a unique interaction to get this quest item. Since this quest item can be found early, you don’t have to worry too much about the difficulty that comes with acquiring it. With that said, let’s learn where to find it.
Finding the Old Key in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Right after the Gommage, players will be able to secure the Old Key during the Festival. This is at the beginning of the game. As you head downstairs during this sequence, there will be three vendors on your left. All three of them have a reward for you, but not for free. They demand a Token. You start with one Token, and two more can be earned here. You can obtain one Token by answering the trivia questions correctly. Even if you get them wrong, you can attempt again. Another one can be obtained from Maelle after you speak with her on the dock.
When you are ready, you must head to the three vendors downstairs. Simply approach Colette (the right-most vendor), who will give you the Old Key in exchange for one of these tokens. Now, continue on your journey because you will find the use of this key later.

Using the Old Key in Clair Obscur
The primary plot will take you to a region called Old Lumiere. Having the Old Key will help you explore this area fully. There is a locked door here that rewards you for keeping a quest item with you. When you are playing as Maelle after the party gets split up, you will have a path to follow. We are talking about the path that takes you beyond the Rest Point. Go through a wrecked archway until you find a three-way path ahead.
There will be a windmill in front of you and paths on both the left and right sides. Head right and drop down onto the pipe below. There is a Chroma Catalyst (used to upgrade weapons) here that you will want to grab, then drop down again into the hole. Turn around, and there will be a locked gate that you can unlock using your Old Key. Interacting with the gate will unlock it, and you can grab the journal entry inside. Once done, interact with the glowing orb at the end of the pipe to get back to the surface.
