Clair Obscur Expedition 33, the upcoming turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, is just a few hours away from its official release. While the game is yet to be released worldwide, pre-downloads for the title are already live on most platforms. Clair Obscur is a fantasy RPG that features a rather unique combat system. While the game employs a turn-based combat system akin to the classic Final Fantasy or Persona games, it mixes things up with real-time elements like parrying, dodging, and QTEs.

The combat system of Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is very reminiscent of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake titles, albeit with a greater emphasis on turn-based elements and party synergies.

With the game being mere hours away from its release, pre-load for Clair Obscur is now live, alongside details on the game’s file size, day-one patch, and more. Here’s everything you need to know about Clair Obscur Expedition 33’s pre-load.

Pre-download for Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is currently live on consoles, i.e., PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. As for the PC version, pre-loads on Steam usually go live roughly 24 hours prior to the game’s release date. Be sure to keep an eye on the game’s Steam store page as well as Sandfall Interactive’s socials for updates regarding the PC pre-load. As for the game’s file size, the official system specifications indicate that Clair Obscur will require 55 GB of storage.

However, on consoles, the game’s download size amounts to roughly 41 GB. After installation, the game goes up to 41.6 GB. That said, the PC version might take up more storage due to decompression.

However, the game is unlikely to go past the 45–50 GB mark, which is quite surprising given that Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is built using Unreal Engine 5. On PC, and even on consoles, UE5 games tend to come with incredibly bloated file sizes. For instance, Black Myth Wukong, despite being a linear action game, takes up to 130 GB of storage on PC (120 GB on consoles).

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Platforms

As an Unreal Engine 5 title, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is coming exclusively to current-gen consoles, i.e., PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PC port is also releasing simultaneously alongside the console versions. Also, it should be noted that, unlike some of the recent PC releases, Clair Obscur doesn’t feature any form of DRM on PC.
