Learning how to perform a QB Slide is essential, as it allows you to safely end a play and avoid serious injuries.

College Football 26, the latest installment from EA’s sports franchise, brings various enhancements while also retaining the core mechanics from the previous games. One such fundamental move is the QB Slide. As the name suggests, it is a maneuver performed by a Quarterback (QB). It is the same move that QBs often perform in real-life American Football games to protect themselves from the rushing defenders.
Imagine sprinting at high speed, and a defender suddenly closes the distance and charges towards you. Instead of performing risky moves, the safest option is to execute a QB Slide. This action helps avoid potential injuries and ends the play cleanly. Here is how you can perform QB Slide in College Football 26.

How To Do a QB Slide in College Football 26

While flashy moves like Pump Fake help you to trick opponents and score a touchdown, QB Slide is essential to protect your QB’s health. To perform a QB Slide, all you need to do is tap X on Xbox/Square on PlayStation while carrying the ball as a Quarterback. Your QB will slide feet-first, dropping to the ground, just like how professionals do in real life. This helps to avoid collisions with charging defenders and ends the play safely.
Since there will be a slight delay in the sliding animation, timing is crucial. You need to press the button 1 or 2 seconds right before the defender performs the tackle. However, QBs with high speed and agility stats reduce this animation delay and perform a QB Slide quickly.
If you attempt to perform a slide, don’t hold the button, which performs a Dive instead. Messing up the controls between QB Slide and Dive results in losing the ball and can even cause serious injuries to your QB.
To perform a Dive, hold X on Xbox/Square on PlayStation while carrying the ball with any player, not just the Quarterback. A Dive can help you to reach extra yards in the last minute, especially when going for a crucial touchdown. You can view these controls from the Offense controls > Ballcarrier section options.
