Master the Conductor in Dead Rails and drive your team to victory. Find out how to unlock and survive as him.
Riding the rails at breakneck speed sounds thrilling, but only the Conductor squeezes extra horsepower from Dead Rails’ battered locomotive. This class sacrifices muscle for momentum, starting the run with half health, no weapons, and two chunks of coal. Yet it turns every minute at the throttle into a sprint toward the finish.
Unlock it for 50 Bonds at the Tailor, stash a spare pistol in your backpack, and you are set to blitz stations while your squad mops up loot.
How To Unlock the Conductor in Dead Rails
To unlock the Conductor class, visit the Tailor’s shop in the game’s lobby. It costs 50 Bonds. You can earn Bonds through the following methods:
- Looting bank vaults
- Finding rare loot
- Finishing runs
- Completing challenges from the challenge board in the lobby
Once you have 50 Bonds, you can purchase the class directly.
What the Conductor Offers
The Conductor is one of seven new classes added in a recent update. It specializes in train driving. The Conductor’s passive ability increases the train’s speed when this class is operating it. This gives the team a mobility advantage during runs. However, the Conductor starts with significant drawbacks:
- It has half the health of a player who starts without a class
- It starts with no weapon
The Conductor spawns with the following item:

Performance and Use
The Conductor is not the most practical option for solo runs. While you might find or buy a weapon before the run, the lack of health makes it harder to safely search for gear. In contrast, the Conductor works well in team runs. Its higher train speed, plus the two coal pieces it spawns with, help get the train moving early. This allows the team to avoid looting and combat, which is especially helpful during pacifist runs.
