Cronos: The New Dawn is a survival horror game built using the Unreal Engine 5. The game is quite challenging on older hardware, such as RTX 30 Series GPUs, but tends to run smoothly on modern ones, including RTX 40 and RTX 50 Series, as well as RX 9000 Series.

The problem with this game is that it tends to stutter frequently, likely due to its optimization issues. Based on our observations, we have disabled ray tracing as it consumes around 70% of the performance, which we believe significantly hampers the gameplay. That said, follow the settings below to provide a seamless experience at 1440p.

Note: The GPU power we are considering here is RTX 4070 Super and beyond. Because of the optimization of the game, GPUs such as RTX 3060, RX 6700 XT, or the Battlemage B580 will not provide a sustainable framerate. In the future, this may change when the devs fully polish the game.

Gamers with GPUs such as the RTX 3080, in both 10 GB and 12GB models, can also try these settings. In the case of the 10GB version, just ensure your VRAM usage is under check. Otherwise, the game will stutter poorly. DLSS should be at Balanced in most cases, but if your GPU is an 80-class from the Ada or Blackwell era, then you can switch it to Quality.

We keep frame generation off because it adds VRAM overhead and increases input latency. As mentioned earlier, these settings prioritize performance and frame rate over visual fidelity. If you don’t like what you see on the screen, you can customize it to your heart’s content.
