Date Everything is a dating sim that turns everyday household items into characters you can form relationships with. While most of the game’s Dateables are embodiments of mundane objects, there are others who represent more abstract forces and ideas. Nightmare is one such character who embodies the fear and terror of a bad dream and seeks to get under the protagonist’s skin.
The 99th Dateable in the Date-a-Dex, Nightmare is difficult to find and confusing to romance, as it acts very differently from other characters in the game. This article will reveal how you can meet Nightmare in Date Everything and outline relationship guidelines to get any of the three available endings with it.
Where To Find Nightmare in Date Everything
To meet Nightmare, you need to drink coffee before going to bed. Head to the kitchen when you are on the last daily scan of the Dateviators, meaning you have already used the glasses four out of five times. If you speak with any other character after having coffee before bed, Nightmare will not appear.
Find the coffee maker in the corner of the kitchen and scan it using the Dateviators. You will meet Kopi, the coffee maker. She will ask for your drink of choice—choose any caffeinated beverage, like a latte. Interact with the coffeemaker again to drink the beverage and head to bed. As you fall asleep, Nightmare will appear and be unlocked as a Dateable. There is also a small (3%) chance for Nightmare to appear every time you fall asleep.
Date Everything: Nightmare Relationship Guide
Like all other Dateables, Nightmare has three possible relationship endings to achieve in order to realize them. These include the love, hate, and befriend endings. However, reaching them isn’t necessarily intuitive, as you can’t flirt your way into Nightmare’s heart.
Befriend
To befriend Nightmare, act scared at all times when she tries to terrorize you. At the same time, avoid affirming the shadowy figure about her purpose, and be less responsive in deeper conversations. After a few meetings, Nightmare decides that she likes you and becomes a friend.
Hate
Getting Nightmare to hate you is the easiest to achieve of all the endings. Every time the character tries to scare you, act unbothered and reject fear. Since Nightmare’s purpose is to terrorize you, she will begin to have an existential crisis and start hating you. If you want to become friends afterwards, use candy to change the relationship status.
Love
Having Nightmare fall in love with you is a balance of acting genuinely scared but not overdoing it so as to seem sarcastic. Additionally, affirm her purpose, and Nightmare will eventually fall for you after six nights.
