Stillwater Prison is a huge stone fortress that’s hard to miss once it spawns. It looks kind of like a castle and usually shows up on the left side of the tracks, similar to other landmarks like Sterling. In most runs, it appears fairly early, though that can vary.

- First window: Between 9,000m and 30,000m
- Second window: Between 49,000m and 60,000m
It doesn’t spawn every round, but when it does, you’ll spot it easily thanks to its tall towers and gray stone walls.
Best Time To Raid Stillwater Prison
Try to reach the prison early in the morning in-game. It’s a big location with a lot to fight through, so having daylight on your side helps. You’ll run into enemies like Covenant Guards with swords and Covenant Archers with crossbows. Bring long-range weapons and plenty of healing items.
Building Layout of Stillwater Prison in Dead Rails
Stillwater Prison has four main sections:
1. Minimum Security
- Loot Level: Basic
- What You’ll Find: Snake oil, bandages, small valuables
- Enemies: Covenants
- Good place to grab healing and junk to sell.
2. Death Row
- Loot Level: Moderate
- Loot Tip: There’s a Blunderbuss and ammo on the second floor.
- Enemies: More aggressive guards
- Marked by yellow walls and a brown roof.
3. Maximum Security
- Loot Level: High
- What’s Inside: Valuable loot and access to the outer walls and tower
- Also includes fuel items and gear like traps and barrels.
4. The Tower
- Loot Level: Best in the area
- Loot Includes:
- Ballista
- Ballista Bolts
- Crossbow + Arrows
- You’ll need to climb the wall from Maximum Security to reach it.
Goliath and Excalibur
In the center of the prison, between Death Row and Maximum Security, you’ll find Excalibur stuck in a stone. Pulling this sword triggers a boss fight with Goliath, who smashes through a wall to ambush you.

Excalibur is one of the best swords in the game, with a chance to strike lightning on enemies. But be ready before you touch it. Clearing the area first is key.
