In Dead Sails, your train is everything. It’s your escape, your shelter, and your best shot at staying alive. But without fuel, it’s just a giant metal coffin waiting to happen.

Almost anything flammable becomes fair game. You’ll burn books, ropes, even corpses if it keeps you moving. Coal is king, but the rarest fuels can take you miles. Learning what to grab and where to find it makes all the difference.

Best Fuels in Dead Sails Roblo

To keep your train running in Dead Sails, you need fuel. Without fuel, you’re stranded, which also usually happens at the worst possible time. So, your first priority is understanding which fuels work best and how to find them.

Start with coal. Coal is the most efficient and practical fuel in the game. One piece gives you roughly four kilometers of travel. You can find coal in buildings, especially mines, or buy it at General Stores inside forts. Always pick it up when you see it.

Next is unicorn. It’s extremely rare, but if you manage to find one, it gives you 15.8 kilometers of distance. That’s the best in the game. Don’t rely on it; just take advantage if you get lucky.

Types of Fuels

When coal isn’t available, look for alternative fuels. These include both objects and corpses. They’re scattered throughout the world — inside buildings, out in the open, or sometimes dropped by enemies. Anything labeled “Fuel” when highlighted can be used. Some common fuel items include:

  • Werewolf corpse: around 2.5 km
  • Barrel: around 2 km
  • Chair: about 1.7 km
  • Rope: around 1.5 km
  • Wood painting: about 1.3 km
  • Book and wheel: both give 1 km
  • Zombie corpse: around 700 meters
  • Wolf corpse: around 600 meters
  • Horse or vampire corpse: about 500 meters
  • Newspaper: only 120 meters

These aren’t ideal, but they’ll keep your firebox going when you’re low on coal.

To use fuel, locate the firebox on your train. It looks like a furnace and sits near the control dials. Pick up your fuel, walk to the firebox, and drag it in. Keep your eye on the fuel gauge above the opening. It maxes out at 100%.

Always carry extra fuel in your train or cart, as waiting until you’re running low only invites trouble. Plan your stops and loot everything flammable. If it burns, it might save you.
