You usually have two methods to deal with most enemies in Deltarune. These involve either brute force or some form of ACT to spare them. King is no exception to this and can be defeated using two methods. Here is everything to know about the final boss of chapter 1, King.

King is on the final floor of the Card Castle section. However, you must go through another mini-boss to get him. Both encounters with K. Round have the same victory condition, which is to knock its crown off. Once that is done, proceed forward, and you will finally come face to face with Lancer’s father, King.

There are two primary ways to defeat King. Either fight him conventionally and deplete his HP to zero, or survive his attacks for 14 turns. Both methods work, so it is up to you what method you choose for this fight.

However, it is recommended that you choose the second method, as King has 2800 HP in total. Therefore, you would have to do at least 200 damage every turn to finish him faster than 14 turns (assuming you do not waste any turns on healing or defending). This will be a challenge for most players, so it’s better to stay on the defensive from the start and try to survive his attacks.

Moves To Avoid

Whatever method you choose, you need to avoid his attacks to succeed in this boss fight. Guarding will significantly reduce any damage you take. Still, you should carefully watch and predict King’s attacks to take as little damage as possible.

All of King’s attacks are based around spades in some way. He throws Spades from both sides of the screen. You should stay in the center and move up and down when required. Additionally, he can also hook the box you are present in and move it up and down. Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue; however, he also makes spades move in a straight line.

Another one of his annoying attacks traps the SOUL in a spiked cage. This cage then bounces across the four walls, so try to predict its movements and stay in the center as much as possible. Those will be all the tough moves to watch out for. Once you exhaust all fourteen turns or drop his health to zero, the fight will end. That was everything to know about defeating King in Deltarune.
