Although Rouxls Kaard may not look menacing at first, he can put up quite a fight in Chapter 2 of Deltarune.
Rouxls Kaard is one of the many recurring characters in Deltarune. When the self-proclaimed “Duke of Puzzles” was introduced in Chapter 1, he had multiple roles: Ineffectual obstacle, shopkeeper, and joke character. However, when he returns in Chapter 2, he is… still a joke character.

How Does Rouxls Kaard Deltarune Chapter 2 Boss Fight Work
As with most other fights, you can defeat Rouxls via violent and non-violent means. If you choose to FIGHT him, then it will not take long to defeat him. Rouxls only has 600 HP, which can be whittled down pretty easily. However, you do not have access to Susie for this fight, so Kris and Ralsei will have to deal with all of the damage.
If you wish to take the peaceful route, however, the battle is, perhaps, even easier. Rouxls’ battle has a special mechanic where you and he are fighting over ownership of houses. Each turn, you can ACT to claim one (or more) houses adjacent to houses you own (you start with one house). Claiming one house has no cost, but it requires TP to claim more than one.
Rouxls will do the same on his turn, but he will claim multiple houses at once. Note that you can use Ralsei’s ACT to distract him, making him place one less house that turn.

How To Defeat Rouxls Kaard in Deltarune
This game ends when one party cannot claim any more houses. When this happens, whoever has more houses at the time “wins” the battle. The catch is that you do not need to win the game to win the battle. Regardless of whether you have more, fewer, or the same number of houses as Rouxls, the same cutscene will play. Here, Rouxls will attempt to use his “true power” before promptly turning to stone. This allows you to comfortably move past him.
To end the puzzle as fast as possible, claim houses diagonally from where you started. The goal is to reach Rouxls’ houses and block them off as fast as possible. As a result, the battle will promptly end, and you can move on.
