Team Liquid co-owner Max Smith called out Twitch streamer Jason “Thor” Hall, a.k.a. Pirate Software because of his comments on a World of Warcraft (WoW) player. There was a controversial moment in the previous “Race to World’s First” (RWF) event in September, 2024 where a Team Liquid player was caught using an exploit. Pirate called the player a “dipsh*t” prompting Max to call out the streamer.

Max said that Pirate Software deserves the recent hate he has been getting from the Twitch and WoW community. Pirate was recently kicked from the streamer-only OnlyFangs clan for allegedly making other players “uncomfortable.”

Pirate Software defended his stance, threatening to contact Blizzard directly to ban streamers. He reported over 3,000 Twitch users for alleged hate and pledged to have players banned from World of Warcraft. His comments fueled the controversy further and led to alleged hate on Twitch and social media platforms.

Why Max Thinks Pirate Software Deserved The “Hate”

Pirate Software was discussing Team Liquid’s exploit usage at the WoW Race to World’s First event in September 2024. He said that the team deserved to be penalized. Someone in his chat said that it was Pirate’s “worst take ever” to which the streamer responded:

“No, it’s not. Do you know why? Do you know what I did before this? I worked at Blizzard Entertainment for seven years. Do you know what part of my job was? Banning dipsh*ts like this.”

Max heard Pirate’s statement and said:

“F*ck this guy. Actually, f*ck this guy. Dude I just cannot think about anyone speaking about Imfired up that way. This guy deserved all the hate he got.”

Max was referring to the recent controversy where Pirate Software allegedly received death threats from Twitch users and WoW players over his recent OnlyFangs drama.

Explaining The World of Warcraft RWF Controversy

Blizzard Entertainment banned Team Liquid player “Imfiredup” at the September 2024 Race to World’s First event. By casting World of Warcraft’s Splinterstorm spell with a macro, he triggered a ban and sparked a controversy in the community.

The ban split the WoW community and many thought that Imfiredup didn’t deserve the ban. Many blamed Blizzard for poorly wording the spell and the surrounding game mechanics.

The exchange quickly drew attention, with Pirate Software supporting the ban and Max responding to their remarks. Max later clarified that it was Pirate’s behavior toward Imfiredup that upset him, leading him to call out the Twitch streamer directly. Pirate Software did not respond to Max’s comments so far.
