Destiny 2 Aberrant Action God Roll and How to Get

This guide has been updated for Episodes Echoes and the Final Shape Expansion.

Aberrant Action is a solar rocket-assisted frame sidearm introduced in Episode: Echoes Act 2. Rocket-assisted sidearms are a favored weapon type in almost all PvE activities but tend to suffer in PvP. The Aberrant Action can be crafted with the perfect perk options. Unlike most sidearms, rocket-assisted frames are special weapons, meaning they use special ammo but hit harder than their primary cousins. In this guide, we will discuss the PvE and PvP god rolls and how to get the Aberrant Action.

Aberrant Action PvE Breakdown

Rocket-assisted sidearms like Aberrant Action are considered among the best weapons to use in almost any PvE activity. They do amazing damage and have a great ammo economy for a special weapon. Most people who use them often use them in conjunction with another special weapon, treating the Rocket Sidearm like a more powerful primary weapon.

Aberrant Action is the first solar rocket-assisted sidearm in Destiny 2 and is the first one in the energy slot that can be crafted. In PvE activities, rocket-assisted sidearms benefit from bumps to Velocity, Handling, Reload Speed, or just increasing their ammo reserves. Take perks like Quick Launch and Appended Mag to get these stats higher. As a solar weapon, it comes with the absolute monster combination of Heal Clip and Incandescent. This combination is still considered among the best for any weapons that can roll with them. Don’t be afraid to build into other things though, as combinations like Pugilist and Swashbuckler or great perks like Golden Tricorn are also available.

Aberrant Action will see a lot of play in the sandbox with its debut. While not the first energy slot rocket-assisted sidearm (Indebted Kindness gets that title), it is the first one that can be easily obtained and crafted. The powerful perk combination of Heal Clip and Incandescent will also make this a go-to choice for most content, providing both a support and damage option in the same weapon. Aberrant Action is a weapon worth getting as soon as possible.

The best perks for the Aberrant Action PvP God Roll are Hard Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, Threat Detector, and Harmony. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Aberrant Action PVP God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Launcher Barrel: Hard Launch
  • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
  • Column 3 Trait: Threat Detector
  • Column 4 Trait: Harmony
  • Enhanced Intrinsic Frame: Handling
  • Origin Trait: Radiolaria Transposer
  • Weapon Mod: Quick Access Sling
Aberrant Action PvP Breakdown

Rocket-assisted sidearms like Aberrant Action are not very popular in PvP. While their damage is decent, they are projectile weapons rather than hitscan. This means the rocket round travels in real-time rather than the game just calculating whether it hit or not instantly, making it much harder to get a hit with. Direct hits can do a decent amount of damage, but it is difficult to do. This is only made worse by the fact that, as a special weapon, ammo for rocket-assisted sidearms is limited. This doesn’t mean we can’t find a decent roll to use in PvP though.

Aberrant Action is the first solar rocket-assisted sidearm in Destiny 2 and is the first one in the energy slot that can be crafted. In PvP activities, rocket-assisted sidearms benefit from bumps to Velocity, Handling, and Blast Radius to a lesser extent. Take perks like Hard Launch and High-Velocity Rounds to get these stats higher. Column 3 has several options that could be useful in PvP, like Strategist or Pugilist, but those will be build-dependent. Threat Detector is the overall best choice for standard play. The fourth column is very interesting with perks like Demolitionist and Swashbuckler being available. Harmony allows for some nice damage boost when using this weapon in conjunction with another and is our choice for the best overall pick.

Aberrant Action has a lot of interesting and fun options in its perks for PvP play. Unfortunately, it is greatly hindered in PvP by its frame. Rocket-assisted sidearms may shine in PvE, but they suffer in PvP due to their very nature as a special weapon that can’t one-shot a guardian. Overall, Aberrant Action is just not something you should take with you into PvP unless you just want to try something new.
