The guide presents Destiny 2 Hollow Denial God Roll for PvP and PvE. It’s a void adaptive trace rifle released during Season of the Haunted.
The Hollow Denial is a void adaptive trace rifle released during Season of the Haunted. Trace Rifles have been on the lower end of the meta for years, but due to a few new perks and subclass synergy, it has made Hollow Denial a must-have weapon. This weapon, like other seasonal weapons, will not be regularly obtainable after the Lightfall DLC release.

How to Obtain Hollow Denial
In order to obtain and craft this weapon you need the season pass for Season of the Haunted, and the Witch Queen DLC.You can receive it as a drop completing Haunted seasonal activities or focus it through the seasonal kiosk in the Helm. The Hollow Denial is crafted upon obtaining and completing five deepsight resonance versions of the weapons. There are three upgrades you will need in your seasonal upgrade path to ensure you are farming as efficiently as possible: Sever Deepsight, Focusing Deepsight, and Haunted Weapon Focusing.
PVE – Hollow Denial God Roll
Slot | Perk |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Enhanced Battery |
Perk 1 | Lead From Gold |
Perk 2 | Killing Tally, Repulsor Brace |
Origin Trait | Extrovert |
Masterwork | Reload |
Mod | Minor Spec |
Barrel: For the barrel perk, we are going with Fluted Barrel. This will give you a boost in stability and handling helping you be more accurate and take less flinch while also allowing you to ready and aim the weapon faster.
Magazine: Magazine: With the magazine, we are going to get a few extra bullets by going with Enhanced Battery, this allows us to deal more damage and get more use out of our perks before reloading.
Perk 1: There aren’t a lot of great choices here except for Lead From Gold in this slot. Lead from Gold gives you special ammo reserves when you pick up heavy ammo. This makes sure you are getting ammo no matter what ammo brick you are collecting.
Part 2: Lastly, Killing Tally is a three times stacking damage perk that only requires a kill per stack and has no buff timer. Instead, you have the buff until you reload or stow the weapon. Another choice, specifically if running a void subclass is Repulsor Brace. This perk gives an overshield upon killing a void debuffed enemy giving strong survivability with the right build.
Masterwork: For the masterwork, reload is the obvious pick. Hollow Denial has great base stats but one of its lowest is its reload. Boost this keeps us in the fight more often instead of taking longer to reload.
Mod: Minor spec in your mod slot gives you increased damage to minor enemies otherwise known as adds (additional units). Since this weapon is going to be strong against rooms of adds we want a mod that focuses on that enemy type.
Conclusion: Overall, Hollow Denial is an incredibly strong trace rifle in a time when trace rifles aren’t the top of the meta. However, that doesn’t make this weapon any less lethal for PVE in the right hands and with the right builds.
PVP – Hollow Denial God Roll
Slot | Perk |
---|---|
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Projection Fuse |
Perk 1 | Heating up |
Perk 2 | Killing Tally |
Origin Trait | Extrovert |
Masterwork | Range |
Mod | Freehand Grip |
Barrel: For the barrel perk, we are going with Fluted Barrel. This will give you a boost in stability and handling helping you be more accurate and take less flinch while also allowing you to ready and aim the weapon faster.
Magazine:The magazine choice here is Projection Fuse. This magazine increases our range allowing us to hit our enemy with the same damage from further away.
Perk 1: We are going with Heating Up. Heating Up gives a boost to accuracy, stability, and recoil direction for a short duration upon getting a kill. This will give the weapon a small boost in performance making it easier to chain kills.
Perk 2: The obvious choice here is Killing Tally since it gives a damage boost after a kill that doesn’t have a timer. As long as you don’t reload or stow the weapon you can use that damage boost to help obtain back to back kills.
Masterwork: A range masterwork is a must have. Following the theme of our magazine choice, we want to extend the range of this trace giving us the ability to put pressure on the enemy from further away
Mod: Freehand Grip is a great choice here. This gives a small boost to ready speed and accuracy while firing from the hip. This can be strong to use while getting rushed by one or multiple enemies saving you time from having to aim down sights.
Conclusion: Trace Rifles may be entirely outside of the meta in PVP but they still be a contender versus more meta weapons. With the perk combos available, your weapons performance can be the advantage you need in a gunfight.
The Hollow Denial has great base stats and is a fun weapon archetype to use. While it may not be the absolute strongest weapon in the game currently, it can be a fun weapon to use. In the right hand with the right perks it may just surprise you with how lethal it can be.
