In this guide, we’ll explore how you can get your hands on the Whirling Ovation Exotic Rocket Launcher in Destiny 2.

The Desert Perpetual Raid is currently underway in Destiny 2, and with it comes the opportunity to claim a new Strand heavy. Dubbed the Whirling Ovation Exotic Rocket Launcher, this weapon sports some interesting perks. In the following guide, we’ll go over how you can get the Whirling Ovation Exotic Rocket Launcher in Destiny 2 and the stats that make it so special.
How To Acquire the Whirling Ovation Exotic Rocket Launcher in Destiny 2

You unlock the Whirling Ovation Exotic as a random reward from completing the Desert Perpetual Raid. So, you’ll need to defeat the final boss in the raid to unlock the weapon. However, since there’s some RNG involved, you might not get it the very first time you clear the raid. Instead, you might need to give it a couple more goes before the Exotic drops. You can bypass the RNG completely by completing the raid within the first 48 hours (also known as Contest Mode) of its launch. In that case, the rocket launcher will be a guaranteed drop when you defeat the boss the first time.

The rocket launcher has the following stats:
- Element: Strand
- Charge Time: 5000
- Ammo Type: Heavy
- Magazine Size: 7
- RPM: 12
The Exotic perks of this weapon are what make it so unique. Let’s take a look at what these are:
- Anticipation (Trait): As you deal more damage with the weapon, its charging speed keeps increasing over time.
- Coronal Culmination (Intrinsic Perk): Hold the fire button to charge your shots and release to fire a Solar projectile.
- Liquid Coils: Slow charge time, but much higher impact damage.
- Hard Launch: This perk optimizes the weapon’s launch barrel to improve projectile speed. However, the trade-off is slightly lower weapon stability and blast radius from the projectiles.
- Composite Stock: The rocket launcher has a dual-purpose stock that offers slight boosts to stability and weapon handling speed.
For now, Bungie hasn’t confirmed any details about the Catalyst for the Whirling Ovation Exotic Rocket Launcher. Typically, the Catalysts for raid Exotics arrive through quests after the raid or event ends. So, the same could be true this time around as well. We’ll just have to wait and watch for now.
