What Is the Posterity God Roll in Destiny 2?
A god roll is the best combination of perks and masterwork that a weapon can get. God rolls are often sought after as they are considered the ultimate drop of that weapon and the most effective roll used in most content. In most situations, there are two god rolls for any gun, a roll for PvE and one for PvP. Posterity has a very powerful PvE combination that allows it to function well with Arc builds.

The best perks for the Posterity PvE God Roll are Smallbore, Appended Mag, Voltshot, and Frenzy. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.
The following list is the best perks for the Posterity PvE God Roll in Destiny 2:
- Barrel: Smallbore
- Magazine: Appended Mag
- Column 3 Trait: Voltshot
- Column 4 Trait: Frenzy
- Masterwork: Range
- Origin Trait: Bray Inheritance
- Weapon Mod: Heavy Ammo Finder Enhancement
PvE Breakdown
Posterity is a very powerful Arc hand cannon that can deal obscene amounts of damage to rank-and-file combatants. While precision frame hand cannons in general aren’t particularly favored in PvE, the Posterity can perform as good and sometimes better than other PvE favorites. It has great stats across the board, and because of the trait, Frenzy, we don’t need to take anything to increase our handling and reload speed. Since it also has a perfect recoil direction stat, Smallbore takes the best in slot trait for our barrel, but anything that improves range or stability will work. Appended Mag or Tactical Mag are the best magazine by a bit as they increase the overall magazine size of the weapon.
What makes the Posterity so good in PvE is its main trait combination of Voltshot and Frenzy. These are two of the best traits in PvE on primary weapons are their own, so pairing them together only makes them so much better. Frenzy increases your damage basically the entire time you are in an encounter while also giving perfect handling and reload speed stats. Voltshot is one of single best perks on any weapon, as it jolts targets very easily. Combining these two perks basically makes Posterity the perfect minor combatant clearing weapon, and also being a powerful weapon for taking down larger enemies as well.
PvP Posterity God Roll
The best perks for the Posterity PvP God Roll are Hammer-forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Killing Wind, and Rampage. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.
The following list is the best perks for the Posterity PvP God Roll in Destiny 2:
- Barrel: Hammer-forged Rifling
- Magazine: Accurized Rounds
- Column 3 Trait: Killing Wind
- Column 4 Trait: Rampage
- Masterwork: Range
- Origin Trait: Bray Inheritance
- Weapon Mod: Ballistics
PvP Breakdown
A lot of PvP players favor precision frame hand cannons but they still lag a bit behind their adaptive frame cousins. That doesn’t mean they are a bad choice though as they have a decent time to kill that is very forgiving on the number of headshots required. Play into the strengths of the frame by building into its range stat with Hammer-forged Rifling and Accurized Rounds. This allows for some really long-range shots on what are typically midrange weapons.
There are quite a few decent main traits for the Posterity in Columns 3 and 4, but nothing particularly groundbreaking. In Column 3, Killing Wind can increase the weapon’s overall performance on kills. Build into this further with Rampage which improves the TTK of the weapon on a single kill, which is a game changer on precision frame hand cannons. Rapid Hit and Opening Shot are other options worth looking at, but while they improve the overall performance of the weapon, they don’t necessarily do it better than the recommended roll.
