In the following guide, we’ll explore how you can complete the Invitation mission in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate.

The Edge of Fate expansion begins with Ikora Rey, the Guardian, and the Drifter making their way to the newly introduced planet, Kepler. They are here to investigate a mysterious distress signal from the planet. What happens after their arrival on the planet is what you’ll find out through the first mission of the DLC, dubbed Invitation.
In the following guide, we’ll explore how you can complete the Invitation mission in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate.
Completing the Invitation Mission in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate

This mission has several stages that you’ll need to clear. Let’s take a look at how you can proceed.
Matterspark and the Exile Servitor
Move forward as the mission starts, and soon you’ll run into a new enemy, Corsairs. Defeat them and a few Vandals to remove the barrier blocking your path ahead. Once you’re through, find your way forward until you reach Ikora. Speak with her, and she’ll ask you to collect materials from the nearby area. Keep heading towards the marker. Soon, Nine’s VII will reach out to you ,and you’ll be able to unlock the Matterspark ability, a new ability in Kepler.
With this, you can transform into an Arc Ball temporarily and pass through smaller spaces. However, if the timer runs out and you’re still in an enclosed space, your Guardian will perish. So, keep an eye on the timer when you’re in the Matterspark mode. After acquiring the ability, you will use it to access a vent and power up a pylon inside. This will open the way forward for you. The next phase of the mission involves fighting against the first boss, the Exile Servitor.
Keep attacking it until you’ve drained half of its health. The enemy will then activate shields, and you won’t be able to damage it further. You will have to use Matterspark to access vents on its left and right. In each of these vents, you’ll discover pylons. Charge both the pylons to take out the enemy’s shield. Next, return and finish the job. You’ll get some loot from the boss.

Defeating the Crystalline Captain

After the Exile Servitor fight, proceed forward by charging another pylon. Be wary of Eliskni enemies that you’ll need to fight in this part of the mission. Soon, your mission objective will tell you to slay the Crystalline Captain. You can take down the boss with your Supers, and there isn’t a risk of the enemy entering shield mode.
Once you dispatch the Crystalline Captain, you will need to focus on charging three pylons that are in the same area. Grab Matterspark each time, enter the enclosed vents, and charge the pylons. After charging all three, destroy the Resilient Heavy Shank. Now, you can finally proceed to the central room and claim the loot from there. Get the Matterspark here and drop down the vent to proceed to the next phase of the mission.
Defeating Vessel of the Archon
The final stage of the Invitation mission in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate sees you battling the Vessel of the Archon boss. You will need to fight three vessels in total, with two of them having shield bubbles. Simply enter these bubbles and take the foes down. None of them have too much health to boot, which makes this fight one of the easier ones in the mission. Once all three vessels are down, you can claim some loot nearby and then interact with an alter to see a cutscene. Post the cutscene, you can proceed to Caldera and talk to Lodi. Another cutscene begins playing, which also marks the end of the Invitation mission.
