As was the case with all other expansions before, the Edge of Fate DLC for Destiny 2 is bringing a host of Exotic weapons and armor for players to find and use. However, many of these will require you to make quite a bit of progress through the expansion’s campaign to finally get your hands on them.

For instance, you can only claim the Graviton Spike Exotic hand cannon after you’ve completed the entire The Edge of Fate campaign. But, even then, you’ll need to know exactly how you can pocket the weapon, as you won’t get it automatically. In the following guide, we’ll explain what you need to do to acquire the Graviton Spike Exotic in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate.

You will need to upgrade your Rosetta ability to level 3, which only happens when you finish the latest DLC’s campaign. You will need to complete the whole campaign on either Normal or Legendary difficulty settings. Once both of these conditions are met, a new quest unlocks, dubbed Graviton Through the Ages. To proceed in this quest, visit Kepler’s Altar of Relativity. Speak with Lodi and the Emeritus using the Caldera social hub. They’ll ask you to take the Rosetta device to the Outer Waster region.

Outer Wastes

Next, reach the marked location and defeat the Rosetta Sentry there. After that, interact with the Aionian Command Module. Once you do that, you’ll just need to follow the markers. In some of the areas, you’ll have to use Matterspark to enter smaller spaces and charge up pylons. After activating three pylons, you can enter a small room, where you’ll find the first piece of the Graviton Spike. With that in your possession, return to The Emeritus.

The Gorge

The Emeritus will send you to the Gorge region next. You’ll have to defeat the Rosetta Sentry here too and then access the Aionian Command Module. Next, you’ll encounter a puzzle that involves using both Mattermorph and Matterspark abilities. Here’s how you can solve the puzzle.

  • Step 1: Use Matterspark to enter the portal in the area.
  • Step 2: On the other side of the portal, take a left and enter the cave.
  • Step 3: Proceed forward and enter the narrow passage on the left.
  • Step 4: Using Mattermorph, open the sealed passage.

Once the seal opens, you can search through a pile to find the second piece of the Exotic weapon. Get back to Lodi and speak to him to learn of your next destination.

Exile’s Accord

At this location too, defeat a Rosetta Sentry and activate the Aionian Command Module. Activate Matterspark and then enter the train tunnel. When you reach the end of the hallway, you’ll find another materials pile. Search it to find the third piece of the Graviton Spike Exotic in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate. With that in tow, return to the Emeritus once more.

He will ask you to collect 100x Vex Data Fragments next. Defeat any of the Vex enemies with a yellow bar to get more of these fragments, even though standard Vex enemies will drop them too.

Aionian Campus

Your next destination is the Aionian Campus, where you’ll also interact with another Aionian Command Module. In this area, you have to solve another puzzle, which involves using the Mattermorph ability. You’ll get a Relocator that you need to use to proceed and get the final piece of the Exotic weapon.

Return to Lodi after this, and he’ll ask you to complete the Sieve activity. This activity only appears periodically, so you’ll have to wait if it isn’t available to you right then. Completing the activity will grant you the Graviton Spike Exotic weapon.

The Graviton Spike Exotic is a hand cannon with a 150 RPM firing rate. The gun has two modes that you can switch between using the weapon’s Temporal Manipulation IV perk. The Arc mode has a fast firing rate but does less damage. In Stasis mode, the gun fires slower but deals greater damage. The two modes also have special overcharge abilities on precision hits or final blows. In such a situation, Arc mode will execute a lightning strike on enemies, while Stasis mode ammunition will explode to form crystals. You can destroy these crystals to deal additional damage to your foes.
