In this guide, we explore Ammo Generation in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate and how you can improve it over time.

The Edge of Fate expansion for Destiny 2 is out now. Along with the brand-new location and a string of missions, players will also experience marked changes to the core gameplay. One of these changes is how ammo drops for your weapons will work from now on. Previously, ammo drops were completely random, so you couldn’t predict what kind of ammo you’d get from fallen enemies and other sources. However, with the latest update, this aspect has been reworked significantly.
Now, a weapon’s own stats will determine how frequently you’ll find its ammo. In this guide, we’ll go over Ammo Generation in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate in great detail.
How Does Ammo Generation in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate Work?

Ammo Generation is a new stat that refers to how quickly the bars for Heavy and Special Ammo for a particular weapon will fill up. You can find the bars on the bottom left-hand side of your screen. Once a bar fills up, the next enemy you defeat will drop a bar of ammo corresponding to that type. For instance, if your weapon’s Special Ammo bar fills up, you will soon acquire more Special Ammo.
Weapons that have a higher Ammo Generation stat will allow you to fill up these bars quicker and replenish their ammo types more frequently.
Your Primary Weapons will generate ammo the quickest in this manner. On the other hand, using Special and Heavy Weapons will ensure that you fill up the bar for the ammo type that they don’t use. All weapon types that you use will gradually fill up the ammo bars, except for Swords. However, one thing to note here is that the bar only fills up when you’ve killed an enemy, not by simply dealing damage to them.

How To Upgrade Ammo Generation in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate
The best way to increase the Ammo Generation stat is to find better weapons that have improved stats organically. Beyond that, certain perks and mods can also contribute to the ammo meters filling up faster. When you’re using a Legendary weapon, you can equip it with mods such as Abundant Ammo or Bandolier. Both of these increase the weapon’s Ammo Generation stat. Impromptu Ammunition is a great perk option when you are relying on standard weapons and not Legendary equipment.
Certain armor mods can also boost the Ammo Generation stat. The Ammo Finder Helmet mod, for instance, enhances the effect of any other mod or perk that upgrades Ammo Generation. Ammo Generation Chest mods, on the other hand, allow you to boost the ammo drop rate for specific elemental weapons.
