For the most part, a god roll is the best combination of perks and masterwork that a weapon can get. God rolls are often sought after as they are considered the ultimate drop of that weapon and the most effective roll used in most content. While you could argue for Liquid Coils, the extra shot from Enhanced Battery is typically more useful than the additional impact damage. A Charge Time masterwork is also handy here, but you could opt to improve the Handling or Reload Speed stat instead if you prefer.
A lot of the perks in Column 3 are decent so its hard to get a bad roll there. The best option is of course Demolitionist with its easy reload on demand and increase to grenade energy. The VS Gravitic Arrest is as of its release the only fusion rifle that can roll with Chain Reaction and that is a doozy of a perk causing explosions on weapon kills. This synergizes well with Demolitionist as the explosions should also count as weapon kills for replenishing your grenade energy. As stated earlier, the VS Gravitic Arrest god roll is unique and powerful but isn’t meta-defining by any means. It is worth a look if you get one.

Answer: Fusion rifles like the VS Gravitic Arrest excel at low mid-range to close-range engagements. The effective range of the VS Gravitic Arrest is around 15 to 3 meters. Any further than that and it is going to be harder to connect enough fusion bolts to kill the target. Remember that fusions have a charge time, so mastering that is going to be key in dictating when you want to pull the trigger to get your target in that effective range.

Answer: While there is some matter of preference in how fast you want your fusion rifle to charge, especially in PvP, there are some things to keep in mind when determining your perks to affect your charge time. For the most part, adaptive frame fusion rifles can kill in 5 bolts so increasing their charge time makes that easier to do as they shoot 7. Increasing the charge time too much increases the number of bolts required to hit to 6, but that’s still manageable for the most part.
